The Motorola Rokr E8 is more than just a slick looking cell phone ; it’s also a chameleon of sorts changing its visible exterior to suit the feature being used. When using the Rokr E8 to make calls or send texts the black casing lights up to look like, well, a cell phone . Switch on that great sounding MP3 player and the casing changes appearance again highlighting only music-centric features. There’s no doubt this cell phone will make you think twice about toting... The Motorola Rokr  E8 has a similar flat profile to the iPhone thanks to the company’s first use of ‘haptic’ keys. There are no buttons sticking out of the unit, instead the fascia has a number of touch sensitive pads that respond to touch with vibrating, tactile feedback. Good in theory, but in practice slightly curious. We found the keys weren’t as responsive as we’d like, with the vibration coming – albeit fractionally – after the press. It also means... Read more

The ROKR E8 is a solid phone with great reception and audio quality, never dropping a call. The music experience is competitive with other music phones such as the Nokia 5310 and the LG Chocolate 3 . The lack of 3G and related services such as streaming video (a la Verizon V CAST, Sprint TV and AT&T's CV), no music store and GPS are the downfalls for the ROKR E8 if you're considering carriers other than T-Mobile. 09 July 2008

Performance If you would be using the Rokr E8 then it would require some getting used to generally because if you are using Motorola after using Sony Ericsson or Nokia handset. This gets much simple after a few weeks of adjustment. There is however a small amount of lag when using the navigation menus as you might find delays during menu selections and the menu scrolling in also a bit slower during fast browsing. However, the touch sensitive wheel or scroll key makes it... Read more

Moto could have made this phone better than the competition had it been faster and more user-friendly. Having built a phone with high-tech features, they sadly missed out on what's more important like why can't the phone ring AND vibrate at the same time??? The menu option is either just ring or ring THEN vibrate!!! Amazing how they could fit in tech we've never seen before and miss out on other extremely simple functions. A firmware upgrade should be cooked up by... Read more
