Following the massive success of the original RAZR, Motorola have been releasing various models to complement this series. The latest addition is the RAZR V3x which brings new promises. Its attraction is the slim, attractive design and the bunch of neatly stacked features which include 2.0 megapixel camera, 3G, video calling, expandable Micro SD memory (up to 512Mb), Bluetooth, 3D graphics acceleration, a WAP browser, MP3 and video playback and voice recognition. There’s also a neat email client for POP3 and IMAP accounts. And due to the 3G support, multimedia streaming is made possible and users can access it through the included media player. The media player is equipped with ‘Special Audio’ settings like seven bass levels and an equalizer which are fun to play around.

Motorola have never meant the V3x to be a stand-alone music phone and it certainly isn’t one. While it does deliver loud and clear audio, you can’t really expect it to keep its promise of surround sound. Also, the speakers suffer from a lot of background noise and become almost useless in loud environments. The camera produces good images but they lack color definition and accuracy. Still, if you want to take a casual shot, this should suffice. According to CNET, call quality is pretty decent and video calls are a pleasure, thanks to the large screen. Weighing its strengths and weaknesses, the verdict stands that the V3x is a worthy update to the RAZR series and gets a strong recommendation.
