Summary: When I received the phone, I went online to activate it. I could not get the phone to turn on, unless plugged in and then it only showed the battery. I took the phone to Verizon, as I needed to get a sim card anyway, and asked them to get it activated for me. He couldn't get the phone to come on either, so he switched batteries. It appeared to work, but when he tried to connect it to the service, it would not. We are in the process of returning the phone.
Summary: I got this phone for myself just a Verizon was selling out the last of their stock. When I first got it, the battery would last far longer than expected, but when it updated to ICS and Jelly Bean, the battery life started getting shorter and shorter. I understand this is because each subsequent update made better use of the powerful engine this phone has, so I bought an extended battery, which fixed that problem.
Summary: I purchased this phone about 1.5 years ago on a contract with Verizon and it's been largely nothing but problems for me. I bought it knowing that the battery was bad and though the phone didn't disappoint on that front it wasn't as bad as it could have been (I charge at least once a day - twice a day if I'm using apps a lot). My biggest problem with the phone, though, is its speed.
Summary: My only gripe is the phone locking up occasionally when being loaded down by a browser or more than one app. I should expect that because the phone has a 1gb of ram. The dual core processor is plenty to keep it moving fast and has not slowed down because of that. The update to 4.1.2 jelly bean was a significant improvement of the 4.0.4 ice creaam sandwich it was shipped to me with. It also doesn't lock up as much when using the stock browser.
