The Motorola Defy is an Android™ platform mobile phone that runs Android Éclair 2.1 with enhanced MOTOBLUR. Powered by a 1540 mAh battery that provides users with up to 6.8 hours of talk time and up to 9.9 days of standby time, the Motorola Defy supports emails for Corporate Sync, Google Mail, POP3/IMAP embedded, and Yahoo Mail; multimedia messaging (MMS), predictive text, text messaging, image file formats (GIF, PNG, JPEG, BMP), embedded instant messaging services such as GTalk, and WVIM, and standard voice mail. It also features a 5 MP camera with digital zoom, LED flash, automatic focus, geo tags, image optimization function such as real-time color effects and scene mode, Android HTML Webkit with Adobe® Flash® Lite 3, stereo Bluetooth Class 2 Version 2.1 + EDR (support profiles, A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, HID, HSP, OPP, PAN, PBAP, SPP) support, and has support for Corporate calendar, email and contacts (Exchange 2003 and 2007), Google contacts, calendar and Gmail™, Facebook™, MySpace, Twitter, Photobucket, Picasa, Last.FM and Yahoo Mail contacts. It also features GPS and location services such as aGPS (assisted), Google Maps™, Google Maps™ Navigation (BETA) and eCompass.

The Motorola Defy is a mobile phone that supports data transmissions via USB 2.0 interface, 802.11 b/g/n wireless support, and has features such as internet and games through download from Android Market™. It is hearing aid compatible and is rated for M3, T3; TalkBack, KickBack and SoundBack menu readout. The mobile phone also features speakerphone with CrystalTalk™ PLUS noise reduction, with dual microphone intelligent voice amplification and noise filtering. Other features on the mobile phone includes an FM Radio Receiver; a music player that supports eAAC+, MP3, AMR WB, MPEG-4, H.264, AAC, WMA9 and AAC+ format, video recording capabilities at 26 to 30 frames per second, and has a 3.7-in., 480 x 854 pixels touch display. The Motorola Defy weighs 118 grams and measures 59 x 107 x 13.4 mm.
