Summary: I bought this phone in probably 2009; to this day I've used it every single day. While abroad I used it as my alarm clock. It hasn't failed me even once. Today I'm looking for a phone for my wife whose cell broke down (A Samsung) and I bumped into this VX5500. I wish I can get a new one as my kids have messed up its buttons. Verizon doesn't offer it with my plan any more. There's no sturdy, dependable phone anymore.
Summary: I had this phone for near five years and it was very reliable. It is extremely easy to use and has a nice set of features. This phone can also take quite a beating and still work fine, I have thrown it at; walls, fans, concrete, trees, the ground, took it swimming a few times, and even hulk-smashed it onto the road and everytime I did as soon as I put the battery back in and put the battery cover back on it worked just as good as if i had bought it that day.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality
Summary: I've owned this phone four years now and have not had a problem. The charge will still last over 24 hours. My 80 year old dad has the same phone and it's so easy for him too. I just purchased this one for a friend. If you have one that's reliable you stick with it. I suggest purchasing the plastic snap on cover. I carry mine in my pocket with my keys and I've dropped it numerous times too. The cover was a good investment. It's just a great phone.
Summary: Phone seems to work ok. Only concern is the use of term "refurbished". That should mean all previous owner information has been removed and it wasn't. E-mails, voice mails, text messages, display settings all indicated a previous owner.
