Slow system....frustrating to use
27 October 2013
Summary: I felt the system lagged which was very frustrating. The features were great but when you can't access them quickly due to slowness it takes away from the ease of use. I would not recommend this phone for anyone who has already become accustomed to a smartphone.
Summary: Battery life can run out quickly. I have had to recharge in the late afternoon, and not using the phone that much. I am at least the second person to have this phone. It may need a new battery. Also, frequently, there is no network signal, and this happens just inside my office. Never had any other phone to do that. Not sure I will keep it or not.
Overall a good product, but a little disappointed with all the hype
4 September 2011
Summary: The phone overall is a good product. The last phone I had was an iPhone 3GS, so that is what I will be comparing it to. Pros - It plays all video formats. The flash player allows you to read and watch the majority of websites (iPhone doesn't allow flash). Fairly fast, but I wouldn't say it is much faster than the 3GS. I was expecting more out of the speed since it is using the new dual-core processor.
Excerpt: "To me this phone is just like any regular android phone but the shape and form make it look more "advanced" i guess? it's too pricy, i like it but i think it's too expensive. it's very fast but if like me you like to use lots of widgets then i'm sorry but no can do! when i started filling my phone with widgets(two months after i got the phone) my phone started being very slow, then i started getting rid of the widgets i don't use and now i only have ...
Pros: The battery lasts verylong, it's light and nice looking, has tons of apps available
Cons: doesn't have anyting special, camera takes too long, too expensive .
Summary: We purchased 5 of these units for our engineers.........should have bought something else! At the time, the specs compared to other phones were superb. The carrier said that the phone was sw upgradable, but a year later we are still waiting for ICS. They say since the unit is no longer made they will probably will not get the ICS update. ALL the units have issues. software locks up. unit overheats and shuts down. Can't dial...etc. etc.
Summary: I've had this phone for 18 months, i'm still on Ginger bread whilst the whole world is on ICS. I can only blame LG's poor management. To summarise, this phone is great on paper, but in practice it is very average. Operating system is not as refined as other competitors, generally sluggish. Tegra 2 games performance is not great. I often need to reboot the phone to improve performance for Shadow gun and Dead space.
Excerpt: "The LG Optimus 2X is a fine Android based phone for the everyday person. The OS is easy to navigate, and won't take long to get the hang of, even if you have never used the system before. The hardware itself consists of 3 buttons, and 4 soft keys. [Top Button] - Power This puts the phone to sleep, wakes it up, and powers off and on accordingly. Like most modern smart phones, it's quite common to have the solitary button to perform all these tasks. ...
Pros: HDMI output, Android OS, Durable, Capable of high capacity Micro SD, Great rear camera
Cons: Poor battery life, Slow, Apps freeze and crash, Stuck on old version of OS
Summary: Solid and very capable hardware, good screen, good camera. But unfortunately, software is total disaster. Best at the relase date peace of hardware is running 2/3 of it potential. Flagship phone running on old andriod, wich cannot use full potential of hardware. Sources ar not given to community to somehow make thinks better. Software relases constantly postponed. 2x is still using 2.3 Gingerbread.
Summary: After getting a bit bored of my old Blackberry 8520 and doing a bit of research into new smartphones I decided to get the LG Optimus 2x as it seemed like a bit of a bargain for what it had compared to other smartphones at the time. Firstly the good points; The user interface is really easy to use and follow with the touch screen display (when it's in a good mood!
Pros: Screen, camera, Apps
Cons: Turns itself on and off on it's own, battery life, old Android OS
Summary: The only problem with this phone is that the screen is not calibrated. The default brightness setting is too high, which washes out the blacks and strains my eyes. Switching to auto brightness almost fixes the problem, but it's still not as good as it would have been if the screen was properly calibrated. If you have this phone and wonder why your eyes get tired so easily when using it, switch the brightness setting to auto brightness.
