Conclusion: This Cookie isn’t a monster but it is a perfectly decent budget handset that happens to have a touchscreen. A great way to sample tomorrow’s tech at yesterday’s prices.
Pros: Squint at the Cookie from across a crowded bar and you might just see an iPhone. At that distance you won’t notice the plastic case and low-ish res (240x400) screen, while the screen-flipping accelerometer and 3MP snaps will look as good as any Apple can come up with. A small stylus lets you tap away at the basic PDA features, useful photo and document viewers, or even attempt some handwriting recognition. Unlike the iPhone, it has a microSD memory card slot and can r...
Cons: A touchscreen handset without Wi-Fi or 3G is like America without an idiot President - it looks good but just isn’t very exciting. The Cookie’s web surfing is slow and cranky, making even the slickest sites look like they were designed by, well, an idiot President. Another cost-saving omission is GPS and you can’t even cheer yourself up with a few downloaded movies, as the cooler movie formats (DivX and XviD) aren’t supported.
Excerpt: I was completely taken aback when I saw the box with the pricing of this touch screen handset the LG KP500 cookie – Rs. 13,990. It amazed me that a large screen touch sensitive handset would cost so little. This could well be the cheapest totally touch screen handset on the Indian market, but what I’m sure you'd need to know is if it's still worth even that price. Let me clue you in this entry level touch screen handset.
LG KP500 Mobile Phone : LG KP500 (Cookie) Mobile Phone
3 June 2009
Summary: This is a touch screen phone (no keyboard) but for those whose handwriting is better than mine almost everything can be written using the provided stylus, however there is a soft keypad for people like me.
Conclusion: That said, there’s not a whole lot not to dislike with the LG Cookie, when you consider that this is a touchscreen budget mobile phone. The camera may only be 3-megapixel, but it’s almost as fully-featured as the Renoir, minus the luxuries such as GPS and Wi-Fi. For less than £100 on prepay it’s an option for anyone who wants something with the latest tech at a bargain basement price.
Pros: Budget touchscreen handset in a slim shell
Cons: Not as fully-featured as the Renoir, but a fraction of the price
