Summary: Honestly the Hydro is junk. Occasionally it will turn on the screen by itself, navigate to other apps (such as the phone) and open them up. Occasionally the screen will register my presses in the wrong place. Screen quality is poor, and processor speed is incredibly slow. I'm using them to just play commercials from an app, and it is 10x slower at loading the videos than my Galaxy Nexus. Would I buy this phone if I needed a cheap phone just to make calls and text on?
Summary: I will make this short and sweet. Aside from the internal circuitry, this phone is inferior to the original. If you loved the original, you will miss it when switching to this one. The only benefit over the original is the camera. That's seriously all I can think of. Probably a larger storage capacity. Just examining the build quality, it's easy to see that the Edge was rushed.
Summary: I owned the orginal hydro and loved it. When I got my new hydro edge it came in a beat mailing envelope with little to no padding. After hooking up a week ago the speaker on the handset has static during every phone call and people have trouble hearing me.
Excerpt: This is an awful phone. The things I do like are the 16 GB internal memory with SD slot. I like the 4G internet speed. I like that it is waterproof, although it doesn't function while it is under the water. What I do not like is the sound quality, even when the phone is dry it sometimes sounds as though you are speaking underwater. My husband and I both have this phone and both have trouble receiving calls and texts. The voice recognition is really bad.
Pros: 4G, SD Card, Waterproof
Cons: Battery Life, Camera, Call Quality, Bluetooth Connection, Overheats
