Huawei Ascend Y 100 Review: In Depth
25 July 2012
Conclusion: The Huawei Ascend Y 100 has some surprising features for the price, namely the 800MHz processor and Android Gingerbread, but the camera is poor, the tiny screen makes typing difficult and the design is dated. But bear in mind the phone is just £69 - half the price of the Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 , which also has an 800Mhz processor. If you can stretch your budget by £30 to £100 you can get the excellent Huawei G300, with a 4-inch screen and 1GHz processor, if not the...
Pros: Android Gingerbread, 800Mhz processor
Cons: Tiny screen, Touch controls don’t always respond, Poor camera
Summary: It’s hard to beat a handset for $99, and the Huawei Ascend Y100 could prove to be a decent smartphone for anyone after a cheap net-capable mobile handset, but it’s certainly not going to steal the crown from Apple’s iPhone or Samsung’s Galaxy S3 any time soon.
Pros: Very friendly to the wallet, Surprisingly responsive screen
Cons: Tiny screen doesn't fit much text or make it easy to use the on-screen keyboard, Some apps and games can offer weak performance, Terrible camera, Locked to Vodafone
The Ascend Y100 has a tiny screen, a mediocre camera and average performance but for under $100, can you really complain?

Summary: The Huawei Ascend Y100 has a tiny screen, a mediocre camera and average performance. However, it's all about the price in this instance. At under $100, we can't fault the Ascend Y100 too much. If you're patient and can live with a cramped screen, then this is a fully featured Android phone for a great price.
Pros: Value for money, Some nice UI touches, Decent battery life
Cons: Tiny screen, Poor default keyboard, Can be sluggish at times
Conclusion: The Huawei Y100 is one of the dinkiest smartphones we’ve seen, and a cheap way of enjoying all the usual smartphone features. However, a bog-standard camera and cramped screen make it unsuitable for snap-happy users and media fans
Pros: Compact build, great battery life, surprisingly usable keyboard
Cons: Restrictive and pixelated screen, bog-standard camera
