Summary: This phone is actually HTC 8900 which does not have front neither a rear camera. The description on amazon is not clear enough whether the shown model is 8900 or 8925 as the 8900 model is without a rear camera. I would have given the AT&T Tilt five stars if the description was clear. I replaced my old Nokia 9300 phone with this one so camera is not that important for me, but maybe camera is essential to others.
Summary: I bought HTC Desire because I thought that this device will be really good. Yes this is a great device, except 2 BIG things making HTC Desire NOT excellent device. The first is THE SCREEN: AMOLED or SLCD doesn't matter (I've got SLCD). Multi-touch can process only 2 (two) points of a touches and make it with a HUGE glitches (you can find a video of this problem on YouTube by keywords: "htc desire multitouch").
Excerpt: Granted this is my first smartphone and my first experience with At&t, but I HATE this phone. I have had it for 18 months now and have had at&t replace it twice for it not working. I still have it because I can't bring myself to pay the huge fee to cancel my contract. Anyway, the camera has no zoom on regular mode. Panoramic photos are okay. If I get a text message while the phone is in my purse or pocket, it 'unlocks' the screen.
Excerpt: I know, I know it's not fair to say that it isn't finger friendly, but lets face it most people are lazy and don't pull out the stylus unless they absolutely have to. That being, I found the features to the phone excellent. Pros: Slide Keyboard Tilt Screen Bright Screen Responsive LARGE Keys Replaceable Battery Cons: Bulky (Slide keyboard comes at a price) Expensive Poor Interface No Multi Touch Requires (Kaiser Patchs) in order to function well.
Excerpt: Everything about this phone was fine. It's support of so many programs...I had to hand enter my phone numbers but that was because I had a SIM fry on me...I can't blame the phone for that. I was afraid of the microsoft apps and OS at first but I ended up liking it. So after spending a few hours plugging in numbers I was excited to see what my new phone had to offer.
Excerpt: Yes People this phone is Crap don't buy it ATT needs to know they can't sell this crap. I bought this phone thinking it was the latest and greatest. I previously had the iphone but got bored of it. So I got the tilt. Pros Beautiful looking phone nice color feel. Great keyboard. Cons windows 6 sucks, very slow and lags takes a long time to even do anything with the phone. The phone is trying to do so much it bogs down and just crashes.
Excerpt: This is a big, heavy phone. It is slow and at times it stops responding. The touch screen sensitivity is inconsitent. Did I say it was heavy? Wow, this is the heaviest smartphone I've ever held. Couldn't handle it. Took 7 steps to get to an instant message. Wake up Microsoft. Take some lessons from RIM. You need to downsize, streamline and simplify your OS.
Excerpt: Bought the phone primarily for email & internet acess, in addition I need an "international" device. PROS internet is fast, large keyboard, lots of nice ringtones. CONS Had a problem setting up the push service, the feature that makes the screen change from vertical to horizontal stopped working after 2 days, phone froze on the 3rd day. I reset it, however, the email is NOT true "push" it takes a few minutes. Will give it another few days.
Excerpt: I have an HTC 8525 which I accidentally dropped so the screen is now busted. I was really looking forward to upgrading to 8925, as that would justify the expense of getting a new phone. Well, I got mine in the mail yesterday and I must say I am very disappointed. The first thing I noticed is how slow Windows Mobile 6.0 is. You hit a key or a tab and sometimes you wait 0.5 sec. Sometimes 5 sec.
Summary: when it comes to connecting to the world, this product is quite efficient.. except in cases of my type;my flex is bad and i cannot get a replacement to it because i can't find it around...and another thing it aches my heart that such product with a 3 megapixel camera does not come with a flash for night viewing. well, all the i still love the phone!
Pros: the product is nice especially for some of us who cannot get our fingers off the keyboard.
Cons: the flex is quite delicate and deficult to get a spare one..
