Excerpt: HTC’s Droid Incredible is essentially a jaguar-sleek version of the original Motorola Droid – comparatively the aging lion at this point. But the easily mockable moniker is not exactly appropriate. The iPhone was incredible. The original Droid was nearly incredible. This Incredible is more like the smooth, mature, professionally executed conclusion of all previous Android phones – the apex of the Android art. Apex – that would have been a good name.
Pros: Bright, colourful, 3.7-inch AMOLED screen, Google Android 2.1, 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, 8GB built-in memory, Light, sleek, uncluttered exterior
Cons: Poor voice quality at both ends of calls, Below-average battery life, No dedicated camera shutter button
Excerpt: The HTC Incredible. Now that’s a bold name, isn’t it? Should you expect a lot from a smartphone with that kind of name, or just a lot of hype? The Incredible is Verizon’s fourth Android phone, and the third in their “Droid” series. Though most folks refer to that heavy-hitter and serious hit, the Motorola Droid as “The Droid” and ignore the name when it’s tacked to the front of HTC Eris .
Pros: Top of the line everything Android smartphone., Large and very colorful AMOLED multi-touch display, runs latest Android release, HTC Sense is wonderful software, fast thanks to 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, very good camera when lighting is adequate, supports Windows desktop sync to Outlook and USB tethering thanks to HTC Windows software included on the phone, superb call quality.
Cons: Display doesn't shock and awe you like the 4.3" HTC HD2 and HTC Evo., Display isn't easy to see under bright sunlight. Though it's certainly a top phone, the HTC HD2 and upcoming Sprint HTC Evo 4G with their 4.3" displays show up the Incredible (but the smaller size means it's easier to pocket and operate with one hand).
Summary: The HTC Droid Incredible is one of our favorite Android handsets to date. With the latest version of Android and an updated Sense UI, the user experience is great. Hardware-wise, the device feels well built and the camera is excellent for a smart phone. Add to that the 1-GHz Snapdragon processor and plenty of memory and you have a device that easily rivals the Droid and the Nexus One.
Pros: Brilliant 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen, Speedy 1-GHz Snapdragon processors, Updated HTC Sense user interface, Great 8-MP camera, Free GPS turn-by-turn voice navigation
Cons: Optical trackpad a little too recessed, Polarizing backplate design, Average call quality, Records only standard-def video
