Between the Youtube videos, fan sites, and ever-cranking rumormills, it’s like we knew all about the first Googlephone before we ever got our mitts on one: a boatload of apps available through the Market, built-in Amazon music store, 3G, Wi-Fi, Google Maps with Street View, that crazy shape-driven lock code, and so on. Some will ask flat-out, is Android better than iPhone? Some will yell at us for brining up that question (yes, we read your comments… all of them). The answer is two-fold. As a not-yet-released phone, the G1 and Android do not have the polish that Apple has been able to build with a two year lead time. But, that said, the G1 has the promise to beat the iPhone down the road. Read more

The T-Mobile is a great start for Google's first Android phone. While it might lack features like video recording, A2DP and a built-in video player, usability is top notch and the core functions work well: phone, web and basic email. The G1 isn't a good fit for business users given its lack of desktop and Exchange syncing and its Gmail, POP3 and IMAP-only email support. Read more

Though we're not in love with the design and would have liked some additional features, the real beauty of the T-Mobile G1 is the Google Android platform, as it has the potential to make smartphones more personal and powerful. It’s not often that the Yanks get a smartphone before we do. Apple did it with the original iPhone, and last October, HTC did it with the Dream, which was dubbed the T-Mobile G1 but widely referred to as ‘the GooglePhone’ because of its strong software ties to the Internet juggernaut. This is first time I ordered a mobile from Amazon. This was a risk for me but when I opened the packed I was relieved. The mobile is in good condition and working fine. I liked this HTC due to Google applications but the mobile seems to be slower than I can use. I am using it in India and have GPRS (internet) in mobile. But my mobile works very slow while connected to internet. Read more or see product

My first ever Android phone, I now own a Samsung Galaxy Apollo. I had this phone for a few days, It was an absolute brick to hold, my hand barely fits round it, and not even slightly practical. The android is Android 1.5, which is quite frankly the most out of date Android you can get on a phone. So about 100,000 of the apps on the Android Market automatically won't work, and all you'd want this phone for is Android. Read more
