Summary: If the BlackBerry Z30 is the Canadian company's last gasp, it will go out with more of a bang than a whimper. We're fans of the Z30's large display, multitasking capabilities, touch-screen keyboard, security features and very strong battery life. However, the lack of a comprehensive app ecosystem will continue to weigh on any BlackBerry device, no matter how good the hardware.
Summary: After spending a good week with the Z30, we find that it’s nothing more than an iterative update to the Z10 , with a larger display. There are some welcome hardware additions like better sound, Wi-Fi Direct and bigger battery but most of the changes are software based so the asking price of Rs 39,990 seems a lot.
Summary: The BlackBerry Z30 lives up the promise of a flagship phone, but it's too little, too late for all but the most committed BlackBerry users.
Pros: The BlackBerry Z30 is equipped with a big screen, long battery life, and excellent messaging capabilities. It also boasts great call quality plus a microSD card slot for extra storage.
Cons: The Z30’s BlackBerry 10.2 software is bogged down with unnecessary eye candy. The BlackBerry platform still lags behind iOS and Android in both app number and quality. The Z30’s camera takes unimpressive pictures. The phone is only sold by Verizon.
Summary: The BlackBerry Z30 inches closer to the perfect business phone, but is still some way off. We applaud the larger screen and the much improved battery life. We also like the style of the phone and the utility of the BlackBerry 10 OS (although a steep learning curve lies in wait for new users). But at the same time, there are issues. The screen really needed a higher pixel count - 1080p resolution is where it's at these days.
Summary: The Z30 retains all the strengths of BlackBerry, offering businesses a host of enhanced security services. However, it fails to address core problems within the ecosystem, like its lack of apps and offers at best comparable performance to other similarly priced smartphones in more developed ecosystems.
Pros: Better built than the Z10, BB10 security features are as robust as ever, good range of productivity services
Cons: Doesn't match similarly priced devices' specifications, camera is laggy, app offering is lacking
