Summary: It is undoubtedly a decent enough phone. Unfortunately, the Bold 9790 does not seem to have the same aura as the Bold 9780 and the Bold 9900, and that is disappointing, more so if you are spending somewhere around Rs 27000 to buy this. Design cues have been taken from the 9780, while the QWERTY keypad layout seems inspired by the Bold 9900. But it doesn't really have the "best of both worlds" thing going for it.
Pros: Slim and light form factor, Decent display, Comfortable QWERTY keypad
Cons: Lacks that premium feel, Menu and call keys have a clunky feel
Excerpt: The Bold 9790 is new in the sense that it has the newer Blackberry 7 OS (not for long though). Add to that the touchscreen display and a contemporary design, you have a totally different Bold. All said and done, the phone went through a set of rigorous PC World India tests. What follows is an in-depth look at what the Bold 9790 has to offer.
Summary: The touch-Qwerty hybrid Bold 9790 won't win many new fans but if you're bonkers about BlackBerry you might fancy its svelte lines and speedy menus. For everyone else, your money's better spent on an iPhone or Android handset, where you can get apps galore.
Pros: Solid build quality; Combined view for email, instant messaging and SMS texts.
Cons: Small touchscreen; Dated, fiddly OS; Fewer apps than iPhone, Android or Windows Phone.
