Excerpt: My boss gave me this blackberry 3 years ago. It's basically a cell phone with web and email access. I used it mostly for checking my work emails. In terms of checking and writing emails, I say it does the job well. In terms of using it as a cell phone, it is only ok. The sound coming out from it is not so clear sometimes. I am not sure if it is due to the reception or the phone. I ocassionally surf the web using this blackberry.
Summary: First thing everyone should know if you don't take the time (like me) to read the full features/benefits of the phone is there is no camera. I had the 8330 and thought this would be a nice upgrade since it was wider - making the keyboard easier to use. It is much wider and does seem lighter weight than the 8330. However - the "mouse" is on the side and not in front.
Summary: I really needed a phone and fast. Not many people list CellularSouth phones, but I found this one and I liked the price and the fact that it was a Blackberry. It was very simple to learn how to use.
Summary: This product is extremely outdated. However, since RIM has always been hesitant with updating the UI software, you'd never know this device was older than some of the other devices used today. Overall, the 8703e is good for someone who wants a Blackberry for $10. You can get a much better deal for a much better device by signing up with Sprint on a new 2 year contract, or you can get a better deal by checking out your local craigslist and finding one on there for cheap.
Summary: The 8703e is an old, old looking Blackberry, and in terms of software, new versions of phones have absolutely passed them by. However, call quality, sound, email and BBM all work just fine, making the 8703e a great backup phone to have. I strongly recommend it to keep in a drawer when other phones aren't working or being replaced.
Summary: Good I guess, but I really couldn't tell you for sure - they screwed - up my order - I ordered a AT&T 8700c Blackberry, or and by the way (I got screwed on that too - it didn't work) sent it back, and now I'm fighting to get my money back. Hows' that for a review?
