Virgin Mobile offers the iPhone 4 contract-free

CNET
  • Summary: At a hefty cost, the Virgin Mobile iPhone 4 delivers an unlimited plan without a contract -- just don't expect blazing-fast data speeds.
  • Cons: Virgin's iPhone 4 data speeds are slower than AT&T's and Verizon's, and it lacks both world roaming and the ability to access voice and data simultaneously.

Apple iPhone 4 Verizon Wireless

CNET
2 March 2011
  • Summary: The Verizon iPhone 4 has much in common with its AT&T counterpart, but varying features and different performance give it enough room to stand apart. It won't vastly change your iPhone experience, but we welcome the consumer choice that it brings.
  • Cons: The Verizon iPhone 4 lacks world roaming and the ability to access voice and data simultaneously. The hot-spot feature didn't work with all devices.

Before jumping the gun and making that impulse purchase, there are some key things you’ll probably want to keep in mind. • Cons: Basically a 7-month old model, Domestic use only, No Flash Player 10.1 support

Apple iPhone 4 AT&T

CNET
21 December 2010
  • Summary: With the iPhone 4, Apple again shows that it is a powerful player in the smartphone wars. It won't be for everyone, the call quality and reception vary if you don't use a case, and AT&T's network remains a sticking point, but the handset's striking design, loaded feature set, and generally agreeable performance make it the best iPhone yet.
  • Cons: Multitasking entails some trade-offs, and home screen folders are limited to 12 apps. AT&T reception continues to be spotty, and you'll need a case for the best calling reception. Also, we'd prefer a 64GB model.

9 December 2010
  • Conclusion: Every iPhone elicits strong reactions from the fanboys on one side and the detractors on the other. Picking your way between the hype and the hate, there's no doubt that iPhone 4 is a hugely impressive smartphone. It corrects key flaws in the previous model – particularly the battery life – and is one of the most user-friendly handsets when it comes to shooting hi-res video. The screen also sets new standards for smartphones. For now, it's king of the hill.
