  • Excerpt: The killer feature is in the name. This iPhone offers 3G data speeds, rather than the much-maligned EDGE of the original. GPS is the other major new feature, with plenty of other tweaks. However, the iPhone 3G’s release also coincides with Apple’s launch of the App Store, allowing users to buy and download applications from the handset itself, or within iTunes.

  • Conclusion: It is indeed revolutionary, super-sexy and insanely easy to use. This is a phone you could give your multimedia-lovin' mum and she'd get the hang of everything quickly. And she'd appreciate the large icons too . Steve Jobs wasn't exaggerating when he said this was the best iPod Apple has ever made.

Apple iPhone 3G

Pocket Lint
11 July 2008
  • Conclusion: So should you? Love it or hate it, there is no denying that Apple has raised the bar on the interface front. It might not be the tech spec king compared to the likes of the HTC Diamond but from a usability point of view for the consumer it is hard to beat. As for that BlackBerry user looking to transfer, you'll miss search, you'll miss "read all", you'll miss cut and paste.
  • Pros: 3G, GPS inclusion, App Store, interface
  • Cons: No improvement on the camera, O2's 3G coverage not great, no search in email, no "read all", no cut and paste, GPS fiddly to use
