Apples’ iPhone was first revealed to the public on the WWDC in January 2007. Intense rumors had been circulating for several months about the upcoming phone from Apple. Even though Apple presented the phone the anticipating audience had to wait until mid-summer 2007 to get their hand on the device. For the US market the iPhone is tied to AT&T with different data and call plans. The new iteration of the iPhone (Apple iPhone 3G) was released on the 11th of July 2008 in 22 countries at the same time.
The iPhone has a large 3.5 in LCD display with 320x480 resolution and uses a multi-touch interface rather than actual buttons. There is a virtual keyboard for typing and the user interface consist of large icons for navigation. Besides being a phone it offers full internet browsing capabilities with the built in Safari browser. When launched the iPhone came in one 4GB version and one 8GB version, the 4GB version was discontinued after a few months. In February 2008 Apple also released a 16GB version of the phone with a MSRP at $499 (8GB at $399). The iPhone also features a built in e-mail client, iPod with video capabilities.

I should have a lot of contempt for Apple because a year before the iPhone was announced, I had the coolest tech idea. No lie: I called it visual voice mail. It's not quite "the Internet in your pocket," however. It displays HTML pages gorgeously (even over EDGE!) but the Internet is now loaded up with Javascript, Java, Flash, streaming media and other plug-ins. The iPhone can't hit many of these rich experiences—so while the browser is the best a phone has ever had, it's not desktop-quality and some sites are off-limits. This may change come February.— next: Luscious Design and Interface > Read more
Conclusion: For “Crackberry” junkies, the iPhone might not be the perfect fit because it lacks a true push email solution. However, for almost everyone else, it is an excellent option. Highly recommended! Read more
So that's about it. We are not providing any direct links to the applications, as they can be found in the Installer app. For those that haven't been tinkering under the hood of their iPhone, we hope that this article is quite revealing. The application development scene is on the rise and new applications emerge every day. A perfect example of that is the iApp-a-Day project, also available through the Installer. The project developer has committed to developing a new... Read more
The iPhone has got to be the biggest piece of junk I have ever seen in my life. It doesn't even do half of the functions that people said it would. It is ridiculously slow, which apple said would be fast, and it is way too expensive for the amount of stuff it can do. If you haven't bought it, consider yourself smart. Read more
The Apple iphone3G was just launched in India, costing a whopping 31,000 rupees($680) for the 8GB version and 36,000($800) for the 16GB version.
