Summary: I am very very happy with my Yamaha Natural Sound CD player. I can't believe the difference between the sound of my old CD player and the new one. A huge difference! I listened to a song that I knew well on my old CD player and then played it on the CD-S700. I thought there would be just a slight subtle difference but it blew my mind. The highs are crystal clear and sound very natural and the lows are buttery smooth and rich. My CDs sound like vinyl records now.
Summary: Excellent cd player. It loads cds so quiet you can't even hear it.The sound quality is extremely good. The remote has all the functions you need and works flawlessly. I suggest this unit to anyone wanting a high quality cd player.
Summary: The title above says it all. I have been an audiophile for over 20 years, and this is the best player I have owned--and I have had many. The build quality is superb: a very quiet transport, no goofy "bells and whistles" (except for the USB connection I will never use), solid, well-spaced output connectors, good weight and feel, sturdy feet, and a nice textured finish. In terms of sonics, the CD-S700 delivers lucid, smooth, dynamic sound.
Pros: reasonable price very solid build excellent sound quality detachable power cable display dimmer pure direct mode no headphone amp that I will never use not made in China
Summary: I am stunned by the quality of the sound this unit produces when playing regular cds. I run this through an Anthem 225 amp attached to 2 MartinLogan Motion 12 speakers. This is my first high end cd player, and it's been a real eye-opening experience (maybe it's not even considered a high end player, but for me, it was a real step up).
Pros: The separation of instruments and imaging is outstanding. It rivals the performance of my pro-ject turntable, and that's saying something.
Summary: The Yamaha CD-700 has outstanding sound. The disk tray is quiet, no noise what so ever. The PURE DIRECT mode eliminates any internal interference and is a nice feature. I also like the USB port for connecting a memory stick to play my mp3 music. I purchased the CD-S700 to go with my Yamaha sound receiver RS-700. Outstanding system that I would recommend to anyone.
Pros: Excellent sound and features. Quality constuction
Summary: Having heard the CD S300 and been quite impressed I decided to do a bit of research online about both the CD S300 and its big brother, the CD S700. Sadly, there's not too much info and not too many reviews out there to shed much light on either product. The only high profile review of the CD S700 was WhatHiFi.com's where they gave it 3 stars. Interestingly, other Yamaha audio products in this range get rave reviews, particularly the A S500 amplifier.
Player is great - watch out for dimensions if upgrading existing kit
17 February 2010
Summary: I used the dimensions as listed in the details supplied - but this didn't allow for an extra 2" required at the back of the player to accommodate the power cable and output plugs. Had to do some wood work to my cabinet. Player is excellent however.
Summary: Tja, was soll man da schreiben ?
