Summary: My brother does NOT have a computer (hes old) lol, so instead of using me to burn and copy cds for him, I found this one and he uses it daily to burn all his albums and tapes and songs he gets off the air. He loves it and is very pleased with it....
Summary: Amazon had the best price, I checked around. I'm using it to record old record collection onto CD's, and eventually record off a mixing board for live recordings ( if you have a band :) ).. It performs with regular computer disc's (CD-R) and does just fine, no problems. Everything is real time, when recording analog record's, takes a bit of time. I had read that the computer via USB ported turntables, had thier share of problems,( loading programs, etc.
Summary: Overall, this is a very good (not "perfect") unit, but I would strongly recommend anyone thinking about purchasing the TEAC RW-890 to read as many of the user comments as possible before making the purchase. Some uncommon behaviors for this model have been noted and I, too, experienced a bewildering behavior from it. Thus far, I have made 15 very excellent discs with it, transferring cassette tapes, LP's and CD's using my receiver's recorder output jacks into the 890.
Summary: As a descendent of the Tascam units, this piece is well built, works properly and sounds fine. I have subtracted 1 star due to the lack of a coaxial digital output, which is superior to the cheap Toslink plastic optical connection.
Summary: The CD-RW890 CD recorder with remote performs well. It delivers( records) good sound. I'm using it to record old albums and it improves the sound on cd's. Only thing I don't like is I have to track each song manually. The automatic tracking does not work.
Summary: Am happy to a degree. When your recording from what ever media it has a problem of when you push the record button on occasions to hesitate before the time read out starts moving & it does it every 3 to 4 times after recording something & then going to record again. This relates to when I download the CD into my computer music files it will not download the songs that it did this on?
Summary: I use this machine every Sinday to copy sermons and for lectureship meetings. It never skip a beat, it always turned on, the LED light always work and the copies that were made are quality level.
