Summary: I have truly enjoyed Sony high end and ES equipment for many years, and all is generally wonderful until you have to have it repaired, and I do not say that lightly. I have reviewed the new Sony 5400, and it is a beautiful component indeed, but I urge buyers to connsider one very important factor when purchasing Sony products, CAN THEY BE REPAIRED.
!!!!! SONY - is synonymous with the highest quality !!!!!

Summary: I have a collection of selected SACD disk. I want to listen to music - on multichannel technology. Besides this unit perfectly suited for this. This SONY, then there is a guarantee of high quality. We do not sell them. In this case - the price of nothing says. Listen and understand. I wish you all a good and beautiful sound!
Summary: The seller organized shipment immediately after receiving the payment and the player arrived on time and safe to the destination. Sony ES SACD is a masterpiece and true bargain among the high end players which cost usually more than several thousand dollars. However, the seller was unwilling to make a necessary adjustment of the player to the EC 220V/50HZ current, although I was ready to pay for it as extra cost.
Summary: I have been upgrading my sound system for the last 3 years and realized that I had everything staged to try out multchannel music. My pre-amps and amplifiers were Emotiva, speakers were Polk LSI's. CD player was an Emotiva ERC-1, turntable was aTechnics SL-1210M5G with $600 cartridge/needle, and at the time, my A/V receiver was an Onkyo DSD capable unit.
Summary: Granted, disc players are becoming extinct, but still have a few years left. This player does a fantastic job on analog, two channel playback. I have not heard it through HDMI, but in that case I expect the other end to be the main sound factor. On two-channel, analog out this player shines. It sounds great for both CDs and SACDs. On one hand, I expect SACDs to sound good. To have CDs rise to that level is amazing.
Summary: Most of my CDs have been ripped and are played through a DAC. However, i have about 120 SACD's that can't be ripped (easily) and needed to update my 2003 Sony 9000ES and after reading several reviews of this piece of gear I purchased it. It does a wonderful job on the SACD's an is better than the 9000 by far. A great piece of high end equipment for the price.
Summary: Briefly, this SACD XA5400ES is comparable to the best under $4k in terms of build quality and sound characteristics. The Red Book CD sounds better than expected from a SACD player and the SACD is full measure to compete with more expensive players. It may be wise to put on continuous play for approx 75 hours when purchased as the sound sets nicely without the slight emphasis on high frequency end of the spectrum.
