Summary: Bought this as a refurbished unit in February 2011 from a dealer in Colorado. I use an average of at least 5 hours a day. NO PROBLEMS. Only have a few SACD's so I can't comment much on that although the SACD sound is a little cavernous sounding to me. Have owned JVC, Onkyo, Marantz and a previous Sony 5CD unit and all of them were problematic and coincidentally the JVC, Onkyo and the previous Sony player were purchased from Circuit City.
Summary: I bought this used. When I put in a Rolling Stones hybrid disc, the text display said NOT HYBRID. I then put in a Pink Floyd hybrid disc and got the same message. I wish I had read the reviews on this page before purchasing, because apparently the fact that this machine stops detecting the SACD layer on hybrids is a common problem. I do not have any SACD only discs (do they even make such things?), so I can't tell what would happen if I inserted one of those.
Summary: I had a Sony CD changer before this one, and it lasted about 15 years before it started acting up. I loved that machine! A CD changer is very handy for me, since I do a lot of music reviews, so I figured I'd stick with Sony. Well, after a year or so, it started acting up -- I'll put a CD in and it won't recognize it, so I have to open the tray and close it again. Or, a brand new CD will skip or stick. So frustrating!
Summary: i was perusing the SACD market place, and was surprised in a good way to see this unit still around. i checked the model number on mine, the same. front appears identical too. but mine is 6 or 7 years old. never misses, and it runs often 12 plus hours a day. has 6 RC cable out puts on back (for front L/R, centre, sub, surround L/R.
Summary: I have owned this Sony SCD-CE595 CD player for more than 7 years. I bought it because I need a CD player can play SACD disc. But majority I still used it for playing CD, CD-R and CD-RW. It has the ability to play all of them. I was not impressed with the sound quality at the beginning. It took me about 4-5 years to break it in completely. Right now it sounds beautifully in my audiophile system.
Summary: This is the fifth major piece of audio equipment that i have had from Sony that have totally failed to meet expectations . TV and Blu Ray all fantastic ...... so far . However , this is the latest piece of home audio that has crapped out within 2 to 2 and 1/2 years of purchase . I bought this SACD from Best Buy , it is now out of warranty and to get it replaced i basically GIVE Sony $109 plus shipping for a refurb . NO NO NO !
Summary: Does a Super Audio CD 5-disc carousel for $100 sound to good to be true? It is. I bought the Sony SCD-CE595 to play the awesome SACDs I own, in particular, the selections in 5.1 surround. The first disappointment was that surround sound playback is only available via the 6 channel output. But, the single disc player I was replacing, soley because it was single disc player and not due to any faults, used 6 channel output for surround support.
Summary: Sound quality seems good, but that is not what I want to comment about. Ease of use on this machine is abysmal. It almost seems as if the designers never thought to field test it with ordinary (non-audiophile) users. The remote is so badly designed that it is almost impossible to pick it up with the sensor facing in the right direction. If I have to pick it up in low light, using just the sense of touch, I always get it wrong. The weight is at the wrong end.
Summary: I bought this CD Changer because my 22 year old model finally played out. I use it teaching music everyday. It is a great unit and the seller had great service. I recommend him to everyone needing electronics!
