The RCD-W500C is a compact disc player and recorder from Sony. This dual deck system features a 5-disc tray loading CD changer and a CD-R/RW burner (also a tray loader). The W500C measures approximately 16.9 x 4.3 x 15.76 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 15 pounds. It is available in a black color and ships with a wireless remote control; Sony’s “Remote Commander”. Also included in the standard package are two RCA audio cables and 2 AA batteries for the remote control.

As a CD player, the Sony RCD-W500C can read and playback regular CDs, CD-R/RW as well as MP3 CDs. In addition to regular play mode, the RCD-W500C also features 24 step program play and repeat play for track or disc.

Its CD-R/RW deck can burn music to CDs at up to 4x speed. The recorder also features “Super Bit Mapping” (SBM) recording which cleans up the background noises to provide better recordings. Before finalizing the disc, the user can enter CD text (title and track information). Disc finalization is also done at high speeds. Other recording features of the RCD-W500C include a One-Touch Synchro Start/Record feature, which makes completely copying discs simple.

The Sony RCD-W500C has optical digital audio input and output and and RCA audio input and output. The player also has a 6.25 mm stereo headphone jack with its own dedicated volume control. All the RCD-W500C’s terminals are gold-plated to ensure exceptional electrical contacts.
