Summary: I just rescued my sister from the clutches of this CD player. She was having a few issues with it freezing up and the carousel rotation being a bit iffy...sometimes it would not go to the selected disk but overshoot to the next one. Like most people who have no real experience with quality audio electronics, she bought this player at Best Buy mainly because of the Sony brand name recognition.
Summary: I got this the other day from Amazon, it was one of their re boxed units for $39.99. Luckily I didn't pay more for this. I trust Sony so hopefully it will last for awhile. The description said minor damage to packing box...this unit is warped/bowed on the top. I am using this in a garage so I will just keep it as there are no more $39.99 ones left. Sure wish Amazon would have been truthful with their description. I did try playing one CD and it worked fine.
Summary: I teach middle school general music. I use both commercially produced CDs and CDs that I burn in my MacBook. I purchased the Sony because I needed a reliable CD player that could accommodate multiple disks. I've been using the Sony for several months now, and I am disappointed to report that it regularly contributes an element of randomness and unpredictability to my presentations.
Summary: This player actually played my CDs very nicely at first. I teach music in a school, so I needed the ability to load several CDs in the player, and switch them around often. I was disappointed that just a few days ago, less than a month after I've been using it, it started saying "no disc" on the very same CDs that it WAS playing a week or two ago. Nothing changed on the discs, it just refuses to play them. I'm returning this for a better machine.
Summary: Despite many reviews not favorable, I purchased this unit to replace a similar Sony unit I purchased in 1992 that had quit working. I was satisfied for the first few uses but after several weeks the remote quit working. I replaced the factory provided batteries to no avail. This is a new problem not mentioned in other reviews. I will not replace this with a Sony. Their quality level seems to be decreasing lately.
Summary: Sound quality was fine but this CD changer doesnt work well at all. I am one of the buyers that had the same problems as many others with the CD changer. Tried to play shuffle with all discs and it just stops playing after a while. It also has problems just changing to the next sequential CD. Apparently Sony didn't do proper quality testing on this product. I returned mine and after these other reviews won't be replacing it with a Sony. I hope this is a message to Sony.
Summary: If youre looking for a great 5 cd changer I highly recommend Optimus's.Ive had it since 2002 and it still works fine.Ive had to clean it a few times but overall I was very impressed. This one by Sony was possesed after 4 months.I was highly disappointed. Is Optimus more reliable?I think so but Sony still makes some kick ass speakers.
Summary: I have returned this unit twice to no avail. It has an irritating flaw of not recognizing/not loading a CD and skipping its place in the tray. Sometimes it plays all five CDs, sometimes only one. Not what I expected from Sony.
Summary: I purchased a 5 CD player- played it for 2 years and moved to a new house. We just got it hooked up after 3 years in cabinet. I took it in and the eye is bad an according to the repair fellow is it not a reliable part. Out of warrenty in 2 years. It now has been in the repair shop for nearly 3 months and Hk as not sent the part. Not only it is a defective part. Out of warrenty, but the customer service is louzy.
