Summary: I bought the C-7030 elsewhere, but Newegg seems to have better pricing which is why I thought I'd write a review. I'd consider myself a budget audiophile, and in my pursuit of increased enjoyment from my music I recently ventured back into cd's. I hadn't used any since iPods became popular, but every self respecting audio magazine used them for all of their tests.
Pros: Sounds great, looks good, works well, and priced exceptionally.
Cons: Some people might find it larger than expected, considering it's a single tray player.
CD PLAYER THAT LOOKS AND PLAYS WELL ABOVE THE COMPETITION IN PRICE AND PERFORMANCE! LOOKS LIKE $500.00 +
MARK B., Amazon
24 July 2014
Summary: Don't listen to those who have criticized this unit and said unfair things about it. This player cost a pathetic $140.00 and performs two to four times that price hands down. The unit looks like a high-end cd player without unnecessary buttons and each button feels incredible considering the price. The cd drawer opens quietly and at a steady pace. The headphone amp sounds awesome and makes my ears hear detail and analog warmth.
Summary: First off, Original list price WAS $249,but Onkyo now lists it at only $199. (Amazon needs to update their MSRP). That being said regardless, at the current sale price of $139 it is a STEAL! IMO there is not a single new player out there in the under $350 price point that can match up to this unit. It looks great, is very quiet in operation, and has a build quality that is pretty outstanding at this price point.
Excerpt: Listen to CD's and it sounds great on my vaccuum tube stereo. Very simple and easy to operate. Headphone volume is a bit low and extra 3 dB would help. Overal, it is very good and nicely build product.
Pros: Doesn't Skip, Durable, Easy Controls, Easy To Set Up, Great Sound
Excerpt: I am not an expert of music but I do enjoy listening to a variety of genres. This player is a great value, the audio is clear, accurate and pleasant. Currently it is connected to an Onkyo TX NR515 AV receiver as I search for an integrated audio amplifier. In the meantime, I enjoy listening to Rosanne Cash, Paul Simon and classical music by London Philarmonic Orchestra.
Summary: I've been a longtime audiophile, having had my first taste for better sounding hi-fi equipment listening to a classic FISHER 500C tubed receiver/amplifier with highly acclaimed German Telefunken tubes (circa 1965). This was my father's sacred stereo, and as a curious teen back in the 70's, I would sneak a few listens when he was away at work (since I wasn't supposed to touch/use his equipment)! The mold was set.
Summary: I have two words for this CD Player by Onkyo "LOVE IT"! I'm a drummer that likes to play music to Cd's but as any drummer will tell you that can be a tall order. The kick bass and floor tom play hell on Cd's causing the player to skip due to the low frequency "thump" produced, it will knock every picture off your walls and some things NOT on walls! This player never misses a beat and sounds awesome even with my isolation Head Phones.
