Might be the new record for the shortest life span
5 February 2013
Summary: I'd like to say something about the sound quality of this player, but it literally lasted one+ track, so its hard to give an assessment. Like the experience of some other reviewers, the unit stopped mid-track, and thereafter refused to do anything but display "no disc". I've had an Onkyo receiver for the home theater for several years and it has worked very well, no issues.
Summary: Tray failed to close after just 7 months. Impossible to get it serviced, because either Onkyo parts are not available to the provider or if they are, the service costs more than the machine cost. 7 months is a pretty short time, even for a disposable unit like this.
Summary: What seemed to me a quality build that had great sound only lasted 8 months. My $150 Sony from 1996 lasted 16 years. Bye Onkyo. UPDATE: Contacted Onkyo which at first would not service unit because it was purchased through Amazon, a reseller, instead of direct. Finally a service manager says "as a one time favor, we will accept this for service if shipped to the facility." Oh, so you are doing me this HUGE favor by standing behind a product.
Summary: I trust all the 5 star reviews are legit and that I got a lemon but some of the other different Onkyo CD player models on Amazon have reported the same issue I experienced with the C-7030. After a short period of playing time ranging from only minutes (in my case) to a few days (in other cases), the cd stops playing and the player won't recognize that you have an actual cd in the tray. The message is "no disc".
Summary: Bought this unit 11 months ago and I don't even play it often now the power is shutting off and making a hum ..I bought a Onkyo TX NR 3 years ago and now its bad. I called the guys who fix the Onkyo products they said Onkyo is having lots of audio issues ..after hearing that no more Onkyo products for me!!!! Waste of money they dont last.
Pros: Sound good but thats about it
Cons: Onkyo products dont last , if I'd stick with Onkyo products I'd be buying a new one every year ..that is being very truthful about Onkyo
