  • Summary: I Replaced my Arcam Cd player after 7 years in finally give up on me. My Budget was low but wanted a Good player to replace the Arcam. I recently purchased the C516BEE player After 3 days of Listening the verdict is WOW. This budget player Has sonic ability well above my expectations for a budget player. The soundstage is wide, the detail it uncovers is as good as players twice its price. The player is transparent with a good soundstage and very coherent.

An affordable NAD

JP, Crutchfield
1 March 2014
  • Summary: I will be frank. I got this particular CD player for two reasons: 1) it's a NAD and will probably fetch a higher price on the used market should I ever decide to sell it and 2) its signal-to-noise ratio is considerably less than the competitors in the price range. I have it running through an old Rotel receiver from the 70's and it sounds great. No noticeable improvement or diminishment in perceived sound quality from the Sony professional CD player it replaced.
  • Pros: Elegant look and probably higher resale value than its competitors. Excellent S/N ratio (if you're into that kind of thing). ZERO bells and whistles
  • Cons: Sluggish initial disc loading; once it's loaded, though, it's a fast as any other CD player Chassis is too light. The force required to push any of the buttons on the front panel and to close the CD tray (sans button, ie the wrong way) is nearly the same amount of force required to move the whole thing. You can get used to it but it's a strange experience when you mean to move to the next track but the whole CD player slides. ZERO bells and whistles

  • Summary: I love this CD player. This was a replacement for an old Marantz dvd/cd player and the sound quality is outstanding. Very clear and distinct audio quality as I can hear other instruments in my music I have never noticed before.
  • Pros: Crystal clear sound at a reasonable price.

  • Summary: The CD-516 has got to be the best CD player for the money on the market. Thumbs up to NAD for such a warm and smooth sounding player. It's extremely musical with great image, especially in the mid range area. Anyone who purchases this unit will not be disappointed in it's performance and sound quality.

  • Summary: Good crisp sound. Excellent value for the price. For me a '5' has a special wow factor which this unit does not provide. But it does fall into the next category. Unless you are a pro, I would recommend this product.
  • Pros: Very good sound, easy to connect, remote has all required functions.
  • Cons: No wow factor
