Summary: Got this to go along w my Vintage Pioneer SX-1250 based on recommendations on AudioKarma. Really love it! Sounds great, easy to use, also can use front hookup (USB) for streaming audio - Iphone/Ipad and use internal DAC.
Summary: I've been using a $3200 Meridian cd player for about 6 years. I wanted to try the Marantz because of the great reviews, but I wasn't prepared for how fantastic it sounds. The music is much more enjoyable to me with the Marantz. CDs that I didn't think I wanted to hear anymore now have new life. Marantz started as an American company and represented quality in the 70s and 80s.
Audiophile sound at "prosumer" price, plus iPod digital input

Summary: I want to echo many of the rave review posted here so far. The sound is truly incredible with nice "stage"; I can literally hear and imagine the location/separation of the various instruments on the stage playing the music. From highs to lows it performs really well. I won't spend thousands on fancy "audophile" equipment because in A/B testing I really can't tell that much of a difference. I A/B tested this CD6005 against a bunch of $1000+ CD players... guess what?
Summary: The trend seems to be away from CDs and more toward digital media but I have a collection of CDs that I wanted to play at home and in the car. I was looking for a "good" CD player for use with my Home Theater system of components. I found it with the Marantz CD6005. This is an excellent CD player. Many years ago I had a couple of Marantz components and I am glad to report that the name still means quality.
Pros: Single disk player (less mechanical parts which can lead to problems in the future), good remote, quality components, good headphone jack amplification, The Marantz name
Summary: I doubted all those stellar reviews but I have to say the difference is very noticeable. My CDs sound clearer from the low frequencies to the high. Amazing. I really didn't think there would be that much of a difference. If you have high end speakers and a decent receiver or amplifier, this is worth the money. I have a Yamaha RX-675 and Definitive Tech BP7001 speakers in my system.
