Summary: Here are the AUDIBLE differences ( sound always TAKEN from RCA Audio LINE OUT, and never headphone output ) of the Marantz cd 6005, VS the various marantz CD 5000 series models. IF one uses the stax srs 2170 system on the backs of these cd machines, even with that basic headphone system, one notes that, the 5000series have MORE quantity of BASS, as well as LOWER midrange, than the 6005.
Summary: This CD player replace an ancient Denon player that had a transport mechanism that had died a decade ago. This failure was fatal The Marantz sounds great and was easy to set up. I miss the ease of selecting specific tracks on the CD player itself, but the remote is functional an integrates with the Marantz amp. Since what I really want is a solid CD player that is not musically noticeable and adds and subtracts nothing, I am pleased with this purchase thus far.
Summary: The reproduction is excellent, DAC performs so well I'm not using my external DAC yet. Top and bottom end are clear and full, great spacial rendition. I should have thought about units from the US being 120 v........

Summary: Hello Kiddies. I've lived with this unit for a few months now and I thought I would put me two cents worth into the review section. The sound is on par with the best CD players I've heard-absolutely stellar. On the other hand it doesn't seem to have bested it's predecessor, the CD 6004. They both sound pretty much identical to these ears, which is nothing bad at all. Again, stellar sound presentation. But a couple of ergonomic changes have me going back to the 6004.
Summary: This unit is OK. I has a Meridian 508.24 that I should have never sold. Sound quality is acceptable though compared to my Meridian, is lacks the firm lower bass you get with more expensive units. The Dac in the unit is of good quality and give good detail. For the money its a good unit.
Summary: It's been almost three weeks since I received my new CD6005. Not so light, but it is not a brick. Nice looking front fascia with simple and intuitive controls. I bought it primarily for it's headphone amplifier which, according to the manufacturer's literature, is a dedicated fully discrete one. One specification that popped out to my attention was the high speed, Schottky Barrier Diodes in the power supply section.
Pros: Crystal clear sound (mids and highs), excellent looks, good price
