Summary: Wanted to ask if there really is a difference in sound quality in cd players? It is my understanding the information a player pulls from a cd is digital, one's and zero's, and it sends it to the receiver/prepro which converts it back to analog. My point being you can't alter the digital signal making it sound better or worse, can you? Therefor, all cd players should sound the same.
Summary: I don't want be too sarcastic, but i never heard angels singing, so I kind of envy these people that can discern nuance of high and low frequencies outside the range of human ears. I am also not looking to hear the singers gasping for air in between the words. What I mean is that any CD player with a 24 bit DAC converter will amaze you.
Summary: This was bought to replace my trusty old Sony CDP791, which after the second repair in 20 years was too frustrating to listen to when it worked only 3 out of 5 times. On it's own, the Marantz is a superb player, and easily matches the quality of my old Sony, which was critically acclaimed at the time of its launch. It's all subjective when it comes to quality, but it does feel very well built and I can't fault the sound.
Summary: I bought this to replace a Marantz CD player which was about 10 years old which I thought was the bees knees, and to partner the Marantz PA6004 I also bought recently to replace an older model that had gone rather gritty in one channel. I read in reviews they were designed to work well toigether. I am pleased to say I can hear a real improvement in sound quality and particularly detail from my CD collection with this partnering of well matched kit.
much the same as everyone else..... it's good, very good!!

Summary: I recently bought the Marantz 6004 amp to replace my 15 year old Sony Amp which suddenly died on me and I'm very pleased with it and was considering replacing my excellent but tempremental NAD CD player, for some years I've been having occasional issues with the CD draw refusing to open but recently it has been becoming worse, often putting the player out of action for weeks at a time, so time to junk it.
Summary: Quite a good product, I may say so. Far above my old Denon 1500 MK2 which costs me a fortune "few" years ago ! They made progresses, you can't deny that. Beware : with old CDs, as you can ear the difference you may be disappointed. But with good ones, this machine does it job pretty well. The "but" is because, to my point of view, you still don't get the same feeling of presence you can have with vinyl records. I was expecting too much, maybe!
