Summary: I was very pleased with the sound - very detailed and clean, with no harshness or otherwise grating high ends, and would give this model the highest rating for value and be 110% satisfied if not for the pesky detail of "product reliability." I would expect the unit to have a lifespan of more than 4 years; instead it simply stopped playing mid-disc (disc appears to be playing fine, but no audio output).
Summary: I brought my 640c V2 less than a month ago & as soon as I got it connected, I was hooked on the clarity & depth it brought to so many CDs - I felt like I was rediscovering my music collection. However, after one week the left channel stopped working. I took it back to Richer Sounds who expressed their suprise. Two weeks later and the replacement has developed the same fault.
Summary: I have to add my voice to those below who've experienced serious problems with this unit. I was impressed by the reviews I read about this machine & the fact it has been awarded a 'best buy' award by 'What Hi-Fi' magazine. However, the first machine I received developed a serious mechanical fault after 6 days. It sounded like a drill every time I switched it on. So- (to their great credit), Richer Sounds delivered a new one within 24 hours.
Summary: I purchased this product at CMY audio in Kuala Lampur with the Azur 640Av2. The sound of this player is outstanding. The rest of your system needs to be up to it (especially the speakers). I was very very happy with it until the left channel stopped working. I ve seen some other people had the same problem which indicates a clear quality defect on this unit. My advise to you is purchase only from a reputable dealer. Mine until now is not yet fixed.
Summary: It is hard for me not to be highly skeptical about the Azur 640C Version 2. I bought it at a high end audio dealer 2 weeks ago, and it lasted an hour before one of the channels burned out. I brought it back, and the next one lasted a week! The dealer said he saw the same thing in the shop, and told me to unplug it and plug it back in. I did that and both channels worked fine. That is when I packed it up, took it back, and ordered a Rotel somewhere else.
Summary: Serious quality issues. The first player did not power on. Replaced power cord to no avail. Received a replacement player several days later, from this replacement player there was no signal from left channel. Tried different interconnects, made no difference. I will never buy another Cambridge Audio product again. This has just been a disappointment and a hassle.
