This is an excellent tape deck

Jeffrey M. Martin, Amazon
27 August 2014
  • Summary: This is an excellent tape deck. The graphics are very accurate when recording. The controls make it easy to edit tapes, playback and record. The double-reverse works well. The deck is well-made and very durable. The BEST deck I have ever owned---I have two of them. You cannot go wrong with this great sounding tape deck from Sony. By the way, the mechanics work smooth to the touch.

This is a replacement for one that was broken beyond repair, due to parts unavailable.

14 April 2014
  • Summary: All my home entertainment equipment is Sony. It was unusual that the first player broke. It was a small plastic part that could have been replaced if I knew where to buy the part.

Risky Business

Gifts That Keep on Truckin', Amazon
28 March 2014
  • Summary: This was used so I got what I deserved. I have another Sony just like this one that's worn out. Unfortunately, so is this one. The dubbing function doesn't work; it might as well be a single cassette player. Buying electronics online is always risky.

  • Summary: I've owned the TC-WA8ESA and TC-WA9ES. Both of these decks have superior sound quality. The TC-WE475 is okay for general purpose useage.

Rough manufacturing

Kenneth Latta, Amazon
17 May 2013
  • Summary: Several of the internal connectors to the PCB were loose so channels were intermittent in copying between cassettes or from external sources. The PCB also needed more offset mounts to prevent bending.

10 April 2013
  • Summary: It is hard to find a tape deck anymore, but this one does the job and is very versatile. The switch for replay, play or reverse is somewhat difficult to work with, but other than that, it work fine.

One unfortunate point

David J. Pines "yrfrnd", Amazon
2 March 2013
  • Summary: I wish this unit was still being manufactured. Unfortunately, replacement parts are no longer available. It is an excellent, though now obsolete unit. Sony quits too quickly backing up its products.
