Summary: I read many reviews for several different brands of readers, but this Sony 17-in-1 always came on top by other customer reviews. A few mentioned that this one was a little slow, but it did not seem that way with what I downloaded. I would recommend this item.
Summary: Not impressed with product! Have Olympus XD card reader and the software is much simpler to use and much much more speed on downloads! It is not a simple process to use and format the memory card after download.
Summary: I bought this 17 in 1 memory card reader/writer and it one of the best card reader/writer i have ever owned. Software easy to install and the device is easy to use and works great with SD, Micro SD and Pro Stick Duo memory cards. One draw back before buying one is that it doesn't come with the USB cable to hook it up to your computer so you need to get one when you buy this device.
Summary: Today is 1/31/2010, I just got this card reader today. I have SanDisk Extreme IV CompactFlash UDMA 16GB card. My wife has SanDisk Extreme III SDHC 8GB card. When I plug into my HP dv1000(6 years old laptop) windows XP, the laptop automatically recognize the card reader. After I put both my wife's SDHC card and my CF card, the laptop recognized both cards immediately with full capacity.
Summary: I'm very happy with this card reader. I was looking for something that reads both Compact Flash (Extreme III, 4GB) and XD cards quickly. Many readers, especially the cheaper ones, don't read XD cards, and many don't handle some of the newer high speed CF cards very well. This one does it all, and handles many other card types as well. My Windows Vista computer recognizes it instantly and I didn't even need to install any new drivers.
Summary: Beware of buying this reader. If you lose the install disc, Sony wants to charge you $20 for a new one. They don't offer a download of the software for this reader, but they do for other ones. Time to buy another one to copy the software, then return it!
Summary: I am not a tech guy. This card reader works great. I use it on 3 differnet laptops- Dell 9100, Dell X1, and an HP. Works easily on all 3. I bought it to replace a card reader that was about 7-8 years old. MUCH faster (I now buy Sandisk Extreme III cards for faster downloading).
Summary: I bought this card reader almost 4-years ago, and it is still kicking with NO problems!! I see no need for another more expensive product. Mine is gold, but it does not matter!! If mine dies, I will buy another!! Highly recommended!
