Fast but with huge design flaws.

  • Excerpt: This reader has fast transfer speeds and a decent pricing but after using it a while you will realise there are some huge design flaws, I almost broke the CF readers pins twice and had to take it to a professional to fix it, barely though....

Poor reliability, weird windows 8 error

  • Excerpt: I've had this for 6 months, When it works it's great. That is when it works. The USB3.0 connector is far to loose and is prone to coming out. Many messed up or interrupted transfers because of this.

  • Excerpt: I was using SDDRX4-CF-901 FireWire reader for 7 years and it stopped working 3 months ago. I ordered this USB 3.0 reader (FW one was discontinued) and I already have problems with CF slot pin at the edge, it's deformed and doesn't allow the card to be inserted, you need to be a goldsmith to correct...

Decent Card but bad pins.

Matt Z., B&H Photo
4 August 2013
  • Excerpt: The good: Good image transfer rate. Small, light and compact. USB 3.0. The bad: Very weak pins. Pricy I though that buying from SanDisk would ensure some kind of quality assurance as I only buy their CF cards, but their card readers are a different story.

Great looks but pins bend too easily

Grant, B&H Photo
13 June 2013
  • Excerpt: We purchased this product to speed up downloads after photo shoots. But getting the memory card into the compact flash slot without bending the pins is impossible. We used it three times and I've had to use a jewelers screwdriver every time to bend the pins straight.

Cheap pins

17 April 2013
  • Excerpt: Low quality pins were used in the manufacturing of this product. Not professional grade! also the design is poor and contributes to the bent pins issue in the CF card slot. Not what I expect from SanDisk...

Bad Design - Fragile Pins - Broken After 4 months

Nelson C., Newegg
11 February 2013
  • Summary: After coming back from a recent Spain Trip, I was excited to load photos into the computer for processing. It loaded 3 CF cards and on the 4th one, the LED just blinks and nothing was happening. On the close inspection, I saw one of pins on the edge was completely bent.
  • Pros: USB 3.0, small, Sandisk brand name Bought this card reader elsewhere before Newegg had this reader listed. It was one of first few USB 3.0 CF card readers around.
  • Cons: It has a very shallow CF card slot (~0.5") which is a very bad design. When inserting a CF card to this reader one is never sure if the card is straight or not.

No faster

  • Excerpt: I was using a cheap WalMart reader and having a little problem with connectivity. I replaced it with this one plugged into a USB 3 port. It is no faster if as fast. I am disappointed. The magnetic stand is cheesey.
