Not amazing, good for the price

Matthew B., Newegg
14 March 2007
  • Summary: Despite its issues, this card reader does exactly what it was designed to do. The heat-up hasn't effected the reader at all. I'm using this as a thumb drive and it works nicely and was recognized immediately by my computer, without even an installation window coming up.
  • Pros: Decent speed, transferred around 700MB straight without a hitch, then around 500MB also without a hitch. Clean design, sd card fully enclosed instead of sticking out.
  • Cons: This device isn't very happy transferring alot of separate files. The 700MB transfer was of potentially thousands of files, and took forever, while the 500MB transfer was a single file and didn't take very long at all. Does get hot for no paricular reason. The light seems kind of useless, but tha...

  • Pros: Have had no problems!
  • Cons: Back cover doesn't give you a satisfying click when it is attached but it attaches and stays on just fine. Nitpicking :)

Budget always has a price

Erik C., Newegg
13 March 2007
  • Summary: I use a regular USB drive all the time and I was planning to use this with an obscenely large microSD card to replace it and have the bonus of being able to plug it into my phone. Windows was only able to find drivers for it after checking online inside the add hardware wizard.
  • Pros: Relatively compact (for a monotasking card reader).
  • Cons: Requires unsigned driver download, uses a lot of power.

Ordered two, one doesn't work

Charles B., Newegg
9 March 2007
  • Pros: The one that works, works great.
  • Cons: The one that doesn't work thinks the SD card is write-protected and refuses to write anything to it. I tried Sandisk, Kingston, and Transcend SD cards. Also on both drives, the cap over the SD card is rather loose.

Works as expected

Carrie C., Newegg
8 March 2007
  • Summary: Not bad for the price, though it seems the price of flash memory has come down so much you can get a 512 MB USB frash drive for around this same price. However, for what I needed it for it works perfect.
  • Pros: Works like it is supposed to, plug-n-play, no drivers needed w/ Windows XP. I use it to xfer pictures from my digital camera SD card to my PC since I do not have a card reader.
  • Cons: None yet...

I like it.

Tom T., Newegg
1 March 2007
  • Summary: Awesome product and does exactly what is advertised.
  • Pros: Compact. It's exactly what I needed. I did'nt want a card reader with cables and the only card I wanted to read was my camera SD card. This tiny card reader works with my 2 gig Kingston memory SD card just fine. A keep in in the camera bag when I'm not using it. Works great on my XP pro laptop wi...
  • Cons: Caps on both ends would be easy to lose. I'd suggest they add a thin tether from the body to each end-cap. Also, not meant to be placed on a keyring (would be nice if it had a keyring loop).

What Else Can I Say.......

Neil A., Newegg

  • Summary: Don't waste your money!!!
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: I had to send the first card reader back because it was defective. Tried it on 3 different pc's and none of them recognized the device. I sent it back as defective. When I got the second card reader my pc recognized it and installed it properly. After about 2 minutes the device stopped working. T...
