Buyer Beware

JAMES M., Newegg
29 July 2008
  • Pros: Unit supports most existing and new memory devices. Dual front panels (black & beige) adds implementation versitility. Simple installation if you have a dual row header style USB connector on the motherboard (most newer motherboards do).
  • Cons: Rosewill lists a MSRP for this unit of $12.99 on their web site. Newegg is asking $19.99 plus tax and shipping. Product is good, but not good enough to pay higher than MSRP. See: http://www.rosewill.com/product/product.aspx?productId=760

Standard Card reader

Bluewater P., Newegg
21 July 2008
  • Summary: As long as your motherboard has an empty USB header you shouldn't have any issues.
  • Pros: Easy to use, standard card reader. Plug and Play nothing much to it.
  • Cons: none.

User Review

Aoiro /., Newegg
18 July 2008
  • Pros: It works with quite a lot of cards, which is the whole point right?! It reads anything I put into it quite fast and shows up quickly on my interface. You can't go wrong... except for the one con.
  • Cons: The driver included with the card reader is for anything under XP. Granted that anyone using Vista and XP should not have to worry about that cause the manufacturer actually has the updated driver on their site in the event that you did not just plug your card reader in and it works from the get ...

Handy little reader!

Adam H., Newegg
17 July 2008
  • Summary: Wiring connects to USB expansion connector on your MB, make sure you have one available, if you have a small board it might be connected to the front of your case etc.
  • Pros: Turns otherwise useless 3.5" floppy drive slot into a very handy multi-card reader. Nice to have this installed internally.
  • Cons: Haven't discovered any.

DO NOT BUY!

Francis D., Newegg
12 July 2008
  • Summary: This isn't like a typo on a webpage, this is something that is glaring right out of the front of a computer case showing incompetence of the manufacturer. As stated many times in other reviews of Rosewill's products, quality control is not top priority. Should have been more cautious.
  • Pros: It reads cards.
  • Cons: If they can't label the lights properly on the front bezel, what else did they do wrong in the construction. Rosewill: "We are so sorry for the oversight. We assume that it may be installed opposite; however, it will not affect the performance of the card reader." This response after my second em...

Power/Activity lights

Jack M., Newegg
8 July 2008
  • Pros: Works with everything I've thrown into it so far. Reads and rights to the Micro SDHC card in my phone. Seems to work pretty fast.
  • Cons: The only thing I can say here at this point is the power and activity lights are backwards. The activity light is on all the time and the power light flashes with activity. Kind of makes you wonder... are the lights backward or is the printing wrong? What else will I find later? If it weren't for...

User Review

Eddie S., Newegg
7 July 2008
  • Pros: USB part of the drive works.
  • Cons: Windows XP used to recognized all the drives and they would show up as letters in Windows Explorer. No longer the case. I tried unplugging the cable from my motherboard and plugging it back in but still cannot see the drives. Does nothing when I insert my camera card. Called Rosewill and they tol...
