Cheap piece of ____

Alessandro M., Newegg
19 February 2013
  • Summary: Its not the case of a single defective product, but rather the way a company can continually produce junk to sell at market value. Its simple unjustifiable. And this is not the only type of product I purchased from them.
  • Pros: When it worked it performed as intended.
  • Cons: Failed after just a few months of light use. Ordered a second, more "updated" version for a different computer which failed under the exact same circumstances. Coincidence? No just cheap garbage.

Don't bother

Anonymous, Newegg
21 May 2009
  • Summary: The way that you can tell the card reader goes bad is usually each slot on the card reader shows up as a different drive letter. One day my Vista x64 Home Premium told me it couldn't load/find the drivers for a device, and next thing I know I don't have any drive letters for each slot.
  • Pros: 52-in-1 card reader. Nice blue lights to match the other blue lights on my Antec 900 case and fans.
  • Cons: My original one died on me about 2 months after I got it. It couldn't read any cards, only the USB port worked. I got an RMA from newegg, got my new one and it died about a week later. I am going to be paying more for the return shipping then this thing cost. This is making me regret getting an i...

Dont buy

Jessica B., Newegg
20 May 2009
  • Summary: I would have sent back for anything but after paying 10 dollars for it plus shipping it would only be a waste of time and money. Also i took the cover off it just to look and one of the screws holding on the readers board was cross threaded and not all the way down. ODD
  • Pros: Worked for two weeks
  • Cons: Quit working after two weeks

Complete Trash

Adam L., Newegg
19 May 2009
  • Summary: Don't waste your money. Save the time and wasted cash on this unit and get a good one. I just ordered the AFT XM-35U because it looks like a really well put together unit. Again don't waste your money.
  • Pros: Not a single one
  • Cons: Card reader is not mounted well. Screws are all striped and the mounting screw holes are not threaded, on mine. Would not properly fit in a 3.5" bay and cards do not insert correctly.

  • Summary: I was forced to give this item a star so I gave it one. I would have preferred not to give it any stars.
  • Pros: Great, when it worked!!
  • Cons: Died after 3 weeks. Seems after reading all the comments on here, I am not the only one.

Died after a half year of very light use...

Michael L., Newegg
18 May 2009
  • Summary: Yes... I still gave it two eggs... it only cost eleven dollars and at that price point - I really wasn't expecting it to last that long...
  • Pros: It was cheap and when it worked - it worked well enough...
  • Cons: After about 6 months of very light use ( I read / write cards maybe 2 dozen times during the entire period ) the unit stopped functioning.

Rosewell Card reader

SUNG L., Newegg
13 May 2009
  • Summary: Overall this is good. Still working. Can't go wrong with price.
  • Pros: Installed on XP 32 bit Works good. I have not tried any other reader except for SD. I assume other ones work as well.
  • Cons: Note that this one does not have a kit for 5.25 drive installation. I had to buy a separate bracket from local fry's.
