Great Idea

Anonymous, Newegg
12 January 2008
  • Summary: This card does work with Vista; however it causes random Blue screens especially during restarts. So do not leave it in as a permanent fixture if you are using Vista.
  • Pros: Low profile card reader for laptops. Works with High capacity cards.
  • Cons: Quasi works with Vista

Simple and it works!

Charles C., Newegg
22 December 2007
  • Summary: Bought this card for father-in-law and installed it in antique P-II laptop with Win98SE to view pics from IR deer cameras. It's been a champ for over a month now!
  • Pros: Simple and fits flush to the side of many laptops. No software needed even for Win98SE. Great price.
  • Cons: None

  • Pros: Works fine in my Gateway laptop and my IBM laptop at work. Reads my 2 gig SD camera card no problem. Have not tried with the adapter and my Mini SD card from my phone. Nice not to have any USB cords!

What you see is what you get

JOHN A., Newegg
17 December 2007
  • Summary: I've seen many multi PC Card readers, wish I'd gotten one of those instead of one for SD and one for CF
  • Pros: Great way to fill every available space / leave some USB ports open
  • Cons: Wish it could work with Compact Flash as well

Work as expected

Albert T., Newegg
8 December 2007
  • Summary: I bought this to read the SD I have in my Adesso Cyberpad and it work well. It was a nice surprise that it can read the SD-HC of my Treo 680.
  • Pros: Work with SD and SD-HC, have try other format yet. Can leave it in the PCMCIA slot with the laptop. No cable, no extra item to carry, free up USB port.
  • Cons: Not the fastest reader on market?

Not Really Mac Compatible

Jeffrey H., Newegg
26 November 2007
  • Summary: This thing is goin' back. But: I still love you, Newegg. No hard feelings.
  • Pros: Works in Windows XP without drivers as advertised.
  • Cons: Sadly: does not work with Mac OS X 10.5.1. Card never shows up in Finder or on the Desktop, and the drive never shows up in /Volumes/.

PCMCIA Card Reader

Anonymous, Newegg
17 September 2007
  • Summary: With laptops you end up running a separate USB hub and power brick which sucks when you travel. This out of the way PCMCIA reader is a Godsend - no peripheral, no cables, no power brick. Life is good.
  • Pros: No need to give up or swap a USB port. My wife's Toshiba laptop only has 2 USB ports - this makes use of her PCMCIA slot which never gets used. And no need to carry around a USB card reader either!
  • Cons: None.
