Much better than Lexmark Printer Card Reader Port

Miles R., Newegg
22 March 2010
  • Summary: For the money, I am very happy. I have tried this with micro SDHC cards, as well as full size SD cards and the transfer speeds surprised me. I was used to the SD port on my printer.
  • Pros: Works great on Windows 7 x64 edition! Just plug and play, no driver disk needed. Significantly faster than the card reader on my Lexmark x4850 Printer. (About 3x faster writes and 10x faster reads) Works great with my Kingston 4gb micro SDHC WITHOUT ANY ADAPTER!! I can't stress this enough, as I ...
  • Cons: Cord is a little short (12 inches?), but I knew that from the other reviews before I purchased this awesome little card reader. Also, the UPS mail innovations shipping speed leaves something to be desired. (Not Newegg's fault, but still annoying) It took over a week to get the package after it wa...

Awesome value

Thomas J., Newegg
15 March 2010
  • Summary: I needed a card reader that supports the antiquated SmartMedia format - I have an old 4MP camera that is still quite good (f1.8 lens) and just happens to use SM cards. The old SM reader I have is no longer supported under Windows 7, and I do not have case space for a 3.5" universal card reader.
  • Pros: If there's a consumer card format used in the last decade (at least) that's not supported by this reader, I haven't heard of it. Installed automatically within seconds under Windows 7 x64. For SD cards, its write speed is equal to that of my Transcend card reader (700MB in 80 seconds), which is f...
  • Cons: Only an 18-inch USB cable is included - but at this price, who can complain? It's perfect for my purposes, anyway.

Excellent Flash Reader

Patrick D., Newegg
27 February 2010
  • Pros: Fast, reliable, excellent price. This device has earned a permanent place in my laptop bag. I've owned this card reader for over 10 months and used it in both 32 and 64 bit versions of Vista, XP, and Debian without incident. I've even used it with Clonezilla running inside a VirtualBox VM via USB...
  • Cons: SD cards feel like they stick out a bit far. You should probably remove these before you travel with it.

Phew - so far so good

Chris M., Newegg
21 February 2010
  • Summary: I read comments about the short USB cable. It's short, but didn't bother me. If I want a longer one, I've bought enough devices with cables over the years that all I cared about was the device itself working.
  • Pros: Plugged it in and it just worked (XP SP3) with my CF card, which was corrupted with my older card reader. Decent price
  • Cons: None so far
