Pioneer TS-W309S4 12" Subwoofer with 4 ohm single Voice Coil
13 April 2013
Summary: You can't go wrong with Pioneer this company has been around for a long time. I have this sub installed in a single bandpass enclosure and it does just fine running on a small amp, so it's a little under driven. However if you're into that hard core booming with just Bass and tweets with no real sound and prefer to go def I would suggest an amp with a 400 watt RMS output rating. I chose the Five Star rating because of Pioneer's history.
Summary: Ive had 2 of these in an absolute enclosed box running on a 1500watt mono boss phantom amp for about 3 weeks. Gain on the amp is set to about 1/4 and these bad boys hum. Still not quite broken in so I expect better performance in the weeks to come. Hooked up to the preferred 4 ohm wiring configuration. Dang near shake my rear view mirror plum OFF.
Summary: I purchased this to replace an Orion XTR3 that I had been using for 16 years and paid alot more for back in the day. So far I'm very pleased with the sound from this speaker and the cost very affordable. Only question now is will it last 16 years?
