Breaking In

AC, Crutchfield
28 February 2014
  • Summary: I never really understood this whole breaking period with subwoofers, Until I purchased these w6's. the amount of air they move fresh out the box is amazing. And they continue to get louder as the very stiff cone starts to give into the bass. This brand of sub found bass in song that I didn't know was there and I can say I happy to have finally have bought a set.
  • Pros: The warranty after you blow them. Good clear bass all day.
  • Cons: Not compatible with weak home style wiring kits. You need some professional wiring to move the subs to really get what you've paid for...

  • Summary: Best choice of subwoofer I've ever made! Sound quality is amazing and seems like nothing can compare.
  • Pros: Saves trunk space, one speaker sounds like two. Brand always brings the boom.
  • Cons: None.

Awesome

Rex J, Crutchfield
19 February 2014
  • Summary: I have owned numerous subs over the years. Cheap and expensive. This is a great sub. I picked one up locally for a great deal. It beats the heck out of Challenger. They are big cars and it's hard to get quality sound from the trunk to the cabin. But this thing delivers...In SPADES. If there is room in your audio budget. I say go for it.
  • Pros: Sound quality, performance, awesome good looks, Too bad it's in the trunk and I can't look at it.
  • Cons: Power hungry, it's in the trunk, I never get to look at it. Kind of expensive.

Excellent JL speaker

ngarrett25, Ebay

  • Summary: Finally got to install the 12" w1 in my son's Mercury Cougar yesterday . Had to wait on the box to get here but sounds spectacular. I have a 10" w3 in my car and am very pleased with the JL sound and quality for both subs. I would recommend these great subs to anyone.

The only choice

KG from Idaho, Sonic Electronix
23 March 2012
  • Conclusion: JL Audio is the choice if you're looking for clean, crisp and tight bass. This sub is very responsive. It handles a wide range of frequencies with ease. To get the most out of JL, simply follow the recommendations from JL. Build the box to spec and give it the power it calls for - don't over or under do it. JL is the best and there is nothing more to be said.

Sometimes the right sub in the right box means EVERYTHING!

Bc5k from Lexington, KY, Sonic Electronix
17 February 2012
  • Conclusion: I have an Atrend A152-12. For those of you who don't know; 12 inch dual downfire bedliner enclosure. Pretty much the best made for the silverado. Issues--.97 cubes per side. There is plenty of depth but good luck finding the correct sub. I WAS using some old school 12w6v1's with heavy polyfill. There was a noticeable bump at 100-60hz and then a sharp roll off. That said; those subs were perfect in the former 1.25 cube box.

  • Conclusion: I ordered these subs because JL audio has been one of the top brands for years. Trust me they didn't disappoint me one bit. I have a 1000watt Kenwood class d mono amp running 2 of these subs and they are capable of handling more. I wouldn't think twice i would buy them again there awesome subs.

Amazing sub!!!

Jeff from Coral Springs, FL, Sonic Electronix
16 January 2012
  • Conclusion: I bought this 12" sub because I know JL Audio is always a top speaker in its class. I used to own a W6 many years ago and this speaker I think sounds better! Very impressed and overwhelmed that it sounds this good, shocked actually! Running 270 W RMS to it in a sealed 1.20 cuft box and it drops!!! But this sub is on spot! Not too over bearing but gives your incredible low sound and depth to your music.

Good sub for mid system.

Jason from Claiirton, PA, Sonic Electronix
12 December 2011
  • Conclusion: My system is very small, and for the sub, I have a ported box in the back. I don't even use subs that are dvc yet because that would mean more power which I can't afford. Previous sub: 12" Alpine svc which Blew after 1 yr Current sub: 12" JL sub, svc hits harder and cleaner than the Alpine
