Summary: I needed a 2ohm DVC capable of 1000rms. Running 1ohm stable on a Hifonics Brutus amplifier. I bought an Apline Type R figuring its Alpine should be good right? No the sub is over rated. No way it handles 1000 rms. I blew it on day 2. I switched to a Massive Audio Toro not only does it handle the rms it says it does it also captures more frequency. Dont waste your money on the Type R get a Massive audio Toro.
Summary: An outstanding product needed some something loud and sturdy. It exceeded our expectations.I'm not sure how it compares to others because I have not had to purchase others. This was the best deal.
Summary: Installed 2 in car broke them in properly and 3 weeks later just quit working, checked the amp and signal and there was no problem there replaced the sub and system works good, I wood not recommend at all
Summary: I've swapped in and out pairs of cheap ($30) and middle of the road ($60) 10" subwoofers and I even gave Pioneer's top model 12" a try but none of them has made me happier than this subwoofer. It has always been a trade off between bass and space in the past. 2 10s in a 2 cubic foot sealed or a 3 cubic foot ported box. Now I've been getting the same output from one 12" in a 1 cubic foot sealed box.
Pros: Loud when you want it to be. Deep, soothing sound at low volume. Small box size. Requires very little power to get a lot of output. Good looking.
Cons: The grill to protect it is expensive. It weighs 30lbs. Not that I have a problem with that. Just trying to find something negative about it.
A name brand product with name brand performance. Pure Excellence.

Summary: This is the best subwoofer I've ever owned. I've had many sets of 10s before and one other pioneer W3002D2. The Pioneer stuff is good for the price but Alpine is a whole step up from them. This sub has a beautiful sound. Balanced, steady, deep, throbbing, gosh. I don't know where I can go from here. I've flipped subs and amps for a year now and I've finally found something that I can just bump and be happy with for a long time.
Summary: This is an amazing subwoofer, but if you wire it incorrectly or under-power it, prepare to be underwhelmed. Of course that goes for all subs though. I do recommend a bigger box than the specs provided by Alpine. I built a box to their specs and it sounded great. Then to increase volume inside the box (as an experiment) I inverted the sub and got a drastic increase in SPL.
Pros: Excellent SQ and SPL Can get loud, but also doesn't sound bass heavy on songs that are not bass heavy.
Cons: Requires a little knowledge of impedance. But no worries! Crutchfield is here to help!
