Summary: Pioneer will not offer support or update the GPS after a few years. Keep the radio for the life of your vehicle and maps quickly get outdated with all the road changes and construction around the country. Do not like the toggle channel changer. Knobs have worked for years so why did they put this on this radio. Newer model is not much better. So be aware Pioneer will quickly quit supporting the GPS if this is your main reason for this purchase.
Summary: This has a great screen and is ridiculously user friendly. The GPS is accurate down to the foot on where you turn. It only has a seven band equalizer, but it's still gives off a decent adjustment.
Summary: Pioneer wanted me to remove my stereo and send it to the factory. Authorized Pioneer repair centers were not permitted to work on it. This simple solution worked flawlessly and with simple to follow directions. Thanks!
Summary: I bought this in October 2011 when I had the iPhone 4S. A year later with the launch of the iphone 5 it doesn't allow playing video from the iphone anymore. I held out thinking there would be a firmware update or new cable but not my luck. Called customer support and they told me it will never be fixed. So, I buy a $1000 control head and they discontinue updates in less than a year. No more pioneer products for me.
Summary: I had a previous model (Avic-D3, I think) years ago and remembered really liking it. What I forgot is that since I now have Google Maps and Navigation on my phone, It's not the same. Don't misunderstand, it's great having the in-dash map and GPS always on, so you don't have to wait for a signal on your phone and you ALWAYS know where you are when travelling, but the map is so very basic and it's hard to get to the right vantage point when you are following directions and...
Summary: This head unit came standard in my Canadian STi. Starting with the overall look and feel: The unit features a resistive touchscreen, which may have been cutting edge in 2008 but now just feels cumbersome and slow. Installed in the car it does look nice though. The GPS feature is probably the worst I've ever used. If you make a wrong turn, the unit can take as much as 30s to recalculate your route. What do you do in that time?
Summary: I got this refurbished from Sound of Tri-State. When it worked, it worked very well. Unfortunately, it began rebooting constantly and wasn't able to be repaired. Sound of Tri-State did a wonderful job of replacing the unit in a timely and professional manner.
