Summary: I have been a stereo fanatic for more than 20 years and this is one of the biggest pieces of garbage I have ever owned. Stay away from Kenwood in general, did I mention it was garbage? Spend the money and get an Alpine. Why: -Blue tooth sucks -not intuitive -FM receiver is abysmal -Very slllllllllloooooooooooow navigating through options. Unless you get this unit for free stay away. The Japanese no longer make great audio equipment, actually they never did.
If you are a MAC user.....DO NOT BUY IT OR ANOTHER GARMIN PRODUCT!

Summary: I have just spent a week trying to update my maps, to no avail and the tech still telling me I need to do it with Windows even after I have told him I have Mac. They have released a "Mac" update and it does not work and they do not tell you this until after you have beat yourself to death trying to update your map. Shame on you Garmin for your horrible attempts and shame on you for taking so much of my time for nothing.
Summary: It is a little slow and that is the only reason we are looking at changing it, Im guessing the processor isnt quick enough for the data, we've updated it as well to the most current firmware, and its still slow.
Summary: My lovely bride and I drove our FJ Cruiser from Pensacola, FL to Denali, AK navigating with the Kenwood DNX6980. The unit operated near flawlessly, that is - without the few errors, glitches, and user-interface issues one would expect from any electronic device. The Garmin was capable and reliable, giving us the guidance I've come to depend upon from Garmin (which was, by the way, the reason we chose the Kenwood over the competitors - Garmin GPS).
Summary: MAC users cannot update Garmin/Kenwood GPS systems. I have been back and forth with product support and they confirmed this. If you ever want to upgrade your system and firmware, you will not be able to do it from a MAC computer. Rendering the system obsolete within a year or two after purchase !
Summary: I bought this unit a couple of months ago and figured I'd give it some time to get used to it. Overall I really like this unit and and would recommend it to others. Here are some of my observations. Pros 1.Display is great and although the touch screen does pause for a moment it is by no means terrible. Just enough to notice it, but really not bad. 2.Gps works better than my stand alone garmin 1450.
Good Navi, but that's the only good thing about it

Summary: We had this professionally installed in our 2010 CR-V. It is replacing a JVC KW-NT1 which worked great but we dropped the removable faceplate and cracked the screen on it so... time for a new headunit. When we looked at a sample model in the store, it seemed decently quick. The sample model didn't have sound, GPS, or anything else connected. 1hour later we got to try the unit in our own car, all hooked up.
Summary: I have the latest software and Bluetooth firmware, but I can't access my iPhone 4 contacts on the Kenwood DNX6980. If you check out Kenwood's Bluetooth comparability page, you will see it isn't supported. They download, but the Phonebook icon on the Kenwood stays dimmed. That is pretty lame. I can access them using my wife's BMW X5 so it isn't a phone issue. Wish I had known this before I bought it. Other than that it seems fine, if a little slow.
