Summary: bought in april had it in the box in a cupboard installed in december. worked well for 2 weeks. boat went on hard for 2 months boat back in the water it worked for about 1 hour then amp protect fault shows. amps disconnected same connected to battery alone, same fault. tech says internal fault.
Summary: I did a lot of comparison shopping before I decided on the head unit for my boat. It came down to the Clarion M309 or the same level Alpine head unit. Both had all the features that I wanted including XM ready and wired remotes for controlling the head unit from different parts of the boat.
Summary: Technically this radio works as advertised. However, the sound quality is rather poor at any reasonable volume level for a boat environment being outside with wind. Also very little audio adjustability. Just Bass, Treble, Balance, and Fader. Again, a very CHEAP radio to carry to Clarion Name.
Summary: I purchased this unit for use in my boat. I installed it myself, which took some wires, splicers, and a little bit of electrical know-how. The sound quality of the unit is great. No complaints. My one complaint is that the user interface is ridiculously difficult to learn.
Summary: The sound quality is fine for the four six inch speakers I use. I do not have an amplifier hooked up. It comes with a remote that works well. You can also purchase the remote head unit for it that is great, except that you can't dim the bright remote head, it's an issue while night boating.
