Good headunit

J. Meade, Amazon
13 August 2011
  • Summary: I purchased this headunit to replace the Bose unit that comes with the 6-speaker system in my 2003 Acura. Simply put it's a good unit with quality sound that does what you expect. Right off the bat, the sound quality and output is better than the Bose headunit (which isn't hard to accomplish; Bose headunits are typically weak). My speaker system sounds twice as good with the Clarion, particularly the lows.

Clarion DB285USB Car CD/ MP3 Player

skaggstyler, Ebay
5 August 2009
  • Summary: Like: The best thing about this player is the price. The second best thing is the quality front inputs (aux in and USB). It was a fairly simply DIY mounting job as well. Dislike: I thought the display was pretty simple. I have a more expensive Alpine unit in another vehicle and it sure looks a lot prettier. The clarion display reminds me more of a solid "digital alarm clock screen" than one with more fluid capabilities such as scrolling.

Not ready for Prime Time

J V V "Road-Guy", Amazon
3 November 2008
  • Summary: Had this installed and then found out it does NOT have the controls which connect it to the steering wheel controls... That costs extra. So be aware that if you have a car with those handy controls that you'll be paying twice the original purchase price to get your stereo back to operating the same as your original equipment. Control/function issues aside, the receiver does not work as well as the OEM radio that came with my Toyota.
