Summary: I used the predecessor of this for years and decided to add another source so this unit was needed. I love the clear difference this makes even with superb speakers to start with. Many audio products are hyped and the difference would not stand a double blind test in my opinion. This would easily. I also strongly recommend mounting your speakers in horizontal line with the dash. Where the tweeters are usually mounted. They are large (6"+) but Its not hard to do.
Pros: Dramatic improvement in sound quality even with superb speakers.
Cons: Expensive and lots of wiring. Requires an external amp.
Summary: The information for this processor says the controller is optional and the processor can be programed by a pc. This is true, but you cannot turn the processor on without the pc, controller or a select number of Alpine head units. Unfortunately, I purchased the Alpine iLX-007 for the Apple Carplay and while its a great unit, it is not compatible with the processor. The tune went great but there is no sound without the PC connected and sound management software is on.
Pros: Everything is just as described and pretty amazing.
Summary: I have 2 - JL12W7AE subs and 4 - JL CA570 door speakers with 2 fosgate amps. I was still not happy with the sound quality until I added the Alpine PXA-H800. The difference is night and day. I cant say enough about this processor. It literally sounds like I have the band in my truck with me. You will also need to buy the controller with it as everyone else has stated.
Pros: Easy to set up, Best sound quality you can get. Took all the muddy out of my subs. Crystal Clear sound!
Summary: I replaced a JBL MS-8 with this unit. The sound quality is significantly better. Crisper highs and much punchier mid-bass. Soundstage is much better. The tuning ability is incredible, and the sound manager software seems to provide endless tuning possibilities. Would be five stars instead of four, but the software needs to be rewritten to work on a 64-bit machine (see cons below).
Pros: Sound manager software is awesome. Tuning features are endless.
Cons: I though I could just buy the PXA-H800 and use the laptop to set it up. Not so. YouMUST buy either the RUX-800 or have an Alpine head unit or the PXA-H800 will not turn on. I almost returned it because I thought it was broken, until I actually read through the manual and saw the fine print. Installing the sofyware on a 64-bit windows system must be done through XP Mode. If you don't have windows professional, it won't work. Could be tricky to install for novice PC users.
Summary: I have been buying car stereo equipment from Crutchfield since the 80's and have been happy with my equipment, but felt I never fully achieved a truly high-end sound in my cars. I had good HU's , top of the line speakers and amps, the system was loud but the sound quality was always lacking , in my opinion. some music sounded great but lacked the low end bass punch, or the bass was good and the high end was harsh.
Pros: Works with both Alpine Head Unit and any brand of Head Unit. Computer Software control is very flexible with multiple crossover points, separate R or L speaker EQ settings. Both parametric, and Graphic EQ's. Time correction, Autotune with imprint, Optical inputs. always worked fine, I have been using for six months with no problems. can achieve high quality sound in the car
Cons: Not many, just that the software only uses 32-bit windows OS, but I heard a 64-bit is coming soon.
Summary: The Alpine PXAH800 Processor is an amazing hookup! I installed this in a 2013 Nissan Altima, with a JL W6 sub, Alpine PDX V9 amp and Infinity Kappa Speakers. Very rich sound, with the pxa controller I can have immediate access to all sound settings to transform the car into a power house without losing my factory stereo.
Pros: Excellent sound, easy hookup, easy to conceal as well
Cons: Biggest Con was the software issue I incurred. Had I known that before hand I probably would've waited but all works good now!
Summary: Great product, Easy to install but difficult to tweak. Needs a better manual and instruction guide. I have spent numerous hours adjusting it using both RUX C800 and laptop and I have finally gotten to a point where the sound is awesome. Haven't mastered the IMPRINT function yet but the time correction and DSP aspect is amazing. I was a little hesitant to drop $900 between the HXA800 and controller but it was worth it.
Pros: Versatility Multiple products in one chassis Ability to tweak with RUXC800 Tuning options Supurb sound quality
Cons: Need for external controller Lack of informative user manual
Summary: First off this is a really nice piece, however... I was looking for a DSP that would do all I wanted without any external controllers. Spoke with Crutchfield sales and was told in fact this piece would work. I could integrate this into my 2012 F150, retain stock Nav head unit, and rock on. Wrong. The manual states that without a specific Alpine HU, the RUX controller ($$$) is required.
Pros: Good SQ, tons of tuning options.
Cons: No summing for all OEM systems, extra $$$ controller required.
Summary: I am still working on the adjustments but it sounds better than the PXA-H100 by a long shot. I have had this in process since talking to the alpine rep about the PXA-H900 not working with my head unit the way I wanted. Apparently it will only work with the F1 heads properly. I had the PXA-H700 previously and it doesn't hold a candle to the H800. I also was able to play with the H900 and sonically I think it is better than the H900.
Summary: I came from JBL MS8 to this, I know there will be other units that you could do tuning of your SQ sound system. I was also considering BitOne unit as well. Well after doing some resourch, i decided to give a shot, this unit is great, I love that thing, I'm using Kenwood DNX9990HD, so I had no choice but to buy the controller. There is so many settings to tune your system to how you like it, 2 way 3 way, 5.1 and soon, you get the idea.
Pros: Many possibilities of tuning, great front stage setup, nice and looking controller, small and compact easy to hide.
Cons: Really nice unit, i have no reasons to give any negative feed backs, other than I had to wait over 5 month's when i put my order in!
