Great unit for features, lacking compatibility for listed Android phon
28 November 2015
Summary: This is the best value for the money, I have looked at Pioneer with similar features and the cost are nearly the same as this unit. I did a lot a research and this unit is far by the best of what it has to offer. Mirrorlink doesn't work for Note 4 which is a bummer but it works for Sony phones.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Need to upgrade car speakers to amp power now.
Summary: I didn't have high expectations for the ongoing updates to this software as the reviews already shed light on how outdated and unsupported-by-design this stereo is. (A big downside to most manufacturers, I'm sure.
Pros: Sound Quality. Although the display isn't high quality, the text is clear when not scrolling. (I leave the display as text on black background.) Flexible settings. Adjustable front panel illumination.
Cons: Bluetooth audio control support is very sketchy with an iPhone, regardless of iOS version. It just stinks. The touch screen is not very responsive compared to a capacitive phone screen, requiring firm enough touches to cause discoloration of the display. The invisible button at the top of the scr...
Summary: The unit produces good quality sound and is easy to use. Has some nice visual features. Integration with phones is poor! This was really disappointing. I use an Android GS4 and my wife has an iPhone5, but neither of them worked with the unit, even after installing extra software on my GS4.
Summary: I've had a lot of electronics over the years and a majority have been Sony. This head unit was the first Sony product to ever give me any trouble when the back-up camera feature didn't work. With a Crutchfield RMA the issue was resolved as quickly as possible all thins considered.
Pros: The bluetooth signal is strong, it will lock onto my android from 20-30 paces away. Video quality is incredible. As others have said, this thing put new life into my factory amp Bose system = saved me 100's on speakers alone. Overall cost <$1000 & If done right, it looks like OEM entertainment sy...
Cons: A lot of "on-off" in options to configure initially (will be same with any brand), The universal layout of the face plate puts the 1 knob and 2 buttons directly behind shifter when in park, same with Kenwood and others. Really stupid considering that the DVD is "supposed" to only operate while in...
Summary: This head unit has by far the worst user-interface I have ever had to deal with. The radio reception is excellent, but tuning with the soft buttons is nearly impossible. Even setting the presets it sometimes freezes.
Pros: Great radio reception, decent power for a head-unit, cool "rear bass enhancer" really does work.
Cons: User interface terrible, distracting and absurd. Many of the soft buttons are nearly microscopic or extremely close to other hidden buttons (there is a tiny button at the top of the screen that you have to hit about 5 times to get the ridiculous distracting "animal", "graffiti", "random" screen s...
Mindblowing sound quality, mirrorlink needs some compatibility update
7 September 2014
Summary: RADIO VERY easy to install, everything runs perfect untill you want to try mirrorlink...what's the point having radio and not being able using all features. Tried htc one m7, sgs3, nokia c7 and finally xperia z1but runs slow and keeps freezing..
Pros: Sound quality, android compatibility
Cons: Very weak mirrorlink support, hope for some updates, maybe new software or so or more open source features.
