R168X2

Greg from Colorado Springs, CO, Sonic Electronix

  • Conclusion: Great stock replacement speaker. Great sound and can get loud as heck on the head unit. Not recommended for those looking to boom. I have an RF P3D412 for that so I set my head units bass to 0 to prevent distortion at high volume. I have not amplified these speakers but do plan to do so.

Great for price

mark, Crutchfield

  • Summary: As usual another fine product from Rockford Fosgate. Very good quality sound, put them in my 2005 F250 to replace some blown Memphis car audio speakers that were installed in 2007. I had some Sony speakers that were to be installed in another vehicle so I put those in first.
  • Pros: Great sound for the price.
  • Cons: None so far.

OK for price

Arnie, Crutchfield
6 June 2014
  • Summary: As title says, OK for price. Easy install. Sound OK. but not much better than stock speakers. The stock Ford speakers actually have a better bass! I was going to change all 4, but left rear ones in for the bass. Good sound other than that.
  • Pros: Easy install
  • Cons: Poor bass

Decent

AudioFan from sacramento, ca, Sonic Electronix

  • Conclusion: I bought these as a replacement for my blown stock speakers. I've had them about 6 months and sound quality is really starting to diminish. The mids sounded bad from day one, in fact have my stereo set to -4 bass just so they don't get that distortion.

Newer model, different tweeter.

John from Joliet, IL, Sonic Electronix
19 January 2014
  • Conclusion: I had the R1682 speakers as rear speakers for the last few years of the vehicle and got these for the front. I am extremely pleased with these. Once the speakers have broken in, the lows are noticeable and these crave for more power. Mids and Hi's are exceptional.
