Performance is amazing with these DB6501 speakers

  • Summary: This pair of DB6501 replaced the rear stock speakers for my 2011 xB. With Kickers SS654 at front as the mid bass driver, overall performance is great. Component speakers with the crossovers can definitely improve sound in details. These speakers have adequate bass. For extreme bass lover, you need a subwoofer instead. Also, an amplifier is highly recommended to drive these high power speakers. You won't get wrong with DB6501!

Great quality, great sound, just a great product!!!

  • Summary: Bought these speakers for an entire upgrade to my 05 Chevy extended cab Z71. Pushing them w/ 2 channels from a Kenwood X700x5 and they are simply amazing. Don't let the size fool you. They rock and have way more thump than you think. Quality and sound is A+ and just what I was looking for. I'm running 45RMS to these and they eat it up and handle everything I throw at them. Mounting was a snap, Used self tapping screws, for existing speaker holes didn't line up.

Great Product....Excellent Quality

  • Summary: I found the Polk speakers to be of excellent quality. The speakers were competitively priced. I was unaware of what I was missing from the tweeters until these were installed. The bass is also a noticeable improvement. The 2-way speakers were very easy to install. The component set took a little homework for a novice(my first install). The supplied speaker mounts and wiring harnesses were priceless. However, the Crutchfield team is truly awesome with their support.
  • Pros: Awesome Sound, Excellent Quality/Craftsmanship, CRUTCHFIELD SUPPORT!!!!!!
  • Cons: Nothing so far.

Polk Audio db6501

  • Summary: I love these 6.5's. Once you supply them the power they want, the are beast! The tweeters on the other hand are killing me! It doesn't matter what volume level, or what gain setting on the amp I use. They are shrill/very bright. It's driving me crazy trying to get these tweets to sound right with the rest of the system. I have the -3 db set on its crossover and that helped but not near enough.
  • Pros: The 6.5's are amazing for this price point when supplied the power they want.
  • Cons: For my ears...These tweeters suck!! I may just have to replace them.

Polk db6501

  • Summary: Purchased these and installed in the front doors of my 2005 Chevy Silverado Extended cab. My factory speakers were horrible!! I have given these a month to break on and get a good idea of how I like them before giving my review. They are awesome super clear highs and Midrange. A little bump more than I expected. Running these with a KTP445U at 45 watts RMS. I'm sure these could handle twice the power!! Finally some good sounding music in my truck.
  • Pros: Easy installation Great sound Marine certified
  • Cons: Non I've found yet.

Great Speakers in 2007 Silverado

SJ E, Crutchfield
28 January 2014
  • Summary: I bought these speakers for my 2007 NNBS Silverado because I heard the DXI series at a BB. Read the review online and many people rave but say you need to amp them. I have not amped them and let me say that they sound fantastic. Much better detail, accuracy and clarity over the stock Silverado speakers. I did put in Dynamat around the opening and sealed much of the door. But these speakers are so pleasant to listen too.
  • Pros: Great speakers! Cannot imagine getting better sound
  • Cons: Crossover was a bit tricky to install due to size but I made it work.

What a difference!

Steve, Crutchfield
18 January 2014
  • Summary: I really like these speakers! I didn't find them too bright for the music I listen to (rock, blues, country and some classical). The bass is slightly lacking, but not overly so, in my opinion. I have a Kenwood Excelon head unit with lots of adjust ability but no external amp or subs (for now). The difference between these and stock paper cone speakers is probably why some people thought they are 'too bright'.
  • Pros: Huge improvement over stock speakers, exactly what I was looking for.
  • Cons: Slightly light in the bass, but still pretty good
